Hi I have a hotpoint ultima wma74 and just last night the inner drum just started banging about. Does any one have any ideas what could be up with it? Thanks kev

If the machine wasn't excessively noisy before and when you select spin only you can't hear the motor running its likely to be the carbon brushes in the motor worn down till they no longer contact stick a new set in if the carbon length sticking out the brass holder is less than around half an inch long

Hook the belt over the motor shaft and feed it onto the drum pulley as far as it will go,hold it in place on the pulley with the aid of cable tie clips, then rotate the inner drum anti clock wise by holding the inside of the inner drum. This will draw the belt onto the pulley and the cable ties will snap as the drum rotates.

hi there....most probable cause is a main bearing failuer..or a cracked spider unit at rear of inner drum.......both scenearios require a comleted strip down of the wash tub

hi the error shows bcoz of ur door problem...replace the door lock and ur problem will be solved...

The whole drum assy comes out through the front of the m/c.
It is required that you remove the top cover and front panel altogether, and detach everything that is connected to the cabinet and remove the hoses from pump and dispenser. It is not a job to be undertaken unless you know what you are doing.

If you remove the back cover from the machine, you should see a big round pulley which attatches in the centre to the inner drum shaft. Below the drum you should see the motor. The belt goes around the big round pulley and onto the much smaller pulley on the end of the motor shaft.

all i can suggest with the info you have given, is to remove the lid and check for anything lose like the weight block etc also have you checked the inner drum for play, maybe the bearings have gone please not to all it is not safe to continue to run machines that are making noises, they can only get worse making more damage, what can start off as something silly can eventually write off the machine start with that and see how you go, glad to help, if i have helped please rate me

u need to put something like a wooden hammer handle into the hole in the spider at the back when u have put it in spin the inner drum clock wise fast so it undos the spider or pulley wheel to some people once the spider is all the way off u need to put the nut back on just so it is level with the spindle with a rubber mallet strike it fast and hard and it will move the inner drum to come out once it comes so far out u need to undo the nut and remove the inner drum totally
