I have some files missing and can still use this machine, but not everything on it. I have the Northgate XP recover disk that came with the bundle from Staples in 2003. I am used to running HP recovery disks but have heard this Northgate is not the same. Is there anyway I can try to repair my files from the disk without having to reformat? If I have to reformat does the Northgate XP recovery disk have everything I will need on it, or does one have to run separate motherboard disks, etc? I do have the XP license number. Does Northgate require any special number key to access the files on the disk? Any step by step directions will be greatly appreciated too. Thanks!
Since you have the XP licence key, try to get hold of an XP install CD and do a repair installation, using your own key when asked for it.

If I can't find an install CD could you advise me on running the recovery disk? I really need to do something and do it soon.
The XP repair did not work!
Thanks for your information. It is working better now after doing some cleanup with it. Microsoft said they would contact me within 72 hrs. with my problem so if that doesn't work, I'll try the recover disk from Northgate which I have. Thanks again!
