Hotpoint WD64 No power - help please !

Can anyone help me please? I'm disabled and therefore can't work and don't have very much money so I was kind of hoping that someone can help diagnose my Hotpoint washer problem so that my kind neighbour could follow the repair instructions or so that I will know the type of repair needed prior to calling out an engineer. My Hotpoint Aquarius Extra WD64 stopped suddenly mid cycle and there are no lights showing on the front panel. I followed the usual pattern of checking the fuse in the plug and in the fuse box but all is fine. I cannot get it to power up in any programme and the drum is full of water with wet clothes still inside. The door opens freely and the drum will turn easily by hand. It has never failed before and is around 5 years old.It did not make any noise or smell before it stopped.

Hi from n/west uk from the symptoms you describe ? that you have no lights on machine? this is most definately total power loss to machine so if you are certain? the fuse is ok? next is has the wire/lead from plug chaffed or damaged breaking the supply? this next possibility may sound odd but the socket you plug machine into ? may be faulty ie the damp location at rear of machine could have caused deteriation of socket terminals or wires even the wire may have broken/come loose? have had this happen in homes and caused by wires not secured properly and eventually arcing/ resulting in power fail at socket ? may i suggest try another elec appliance ie lamp/hoover/ iron? to check if socket is operating just to eliminate? also if the socket is a fused type? make sure this fuse is ok too? finally have you checked consumer unit for possible seperately fused/trip out for the machine use socket ? hope this helps find fault best wishes

How does the powder tray come out for cleaning on a Hotpoint aquarius WD64 washer dryer please ?

there is a tab in the mid section between the two sections for the softener. You need to push the tab down at the back you should feel it go down then gentle push in slightly then pull out.

Hopr this helps

I have water leaking from the dispensing tray, only on the pre wash filling..any suggestions I have a hotpoint washer dryer wd64

Check the level of the machine, may be leaning slightly forward allowing water to leak on that one fill cycle. Lift the front a little by using the adjustable feet and see if it stops.

Dryer does not work drum rotates but does not dry on hotpoint aquarius washer dryer model wd64. all other functions operate ok

Probably open circuit heater element, or thermostat/s
Remove top cover, and you will see the heater manifold on the top of the drum.
It is a long aluminium box.
The element and stats are located here..
You will need a meter to test the appropiate components for continuity.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Hotpoint wd64 front load washer-dryer filter

if your hotpoint has no obvious filter its likely to be the type that has the filter built into the main exit hose from the drum to the pump. Clearing these is not as easy.Pull machine out and unplug it, on the rear there is a panel at the bottom which when removed you will see the pump where the exit hose attaches. From the pump to the drum is normally a wider black pipe and this contains the filter. removal of the pipe from the bottom of the drum is normally a jubilie clip but some have plastic clips that are easy to break. once you have dropped the pipe from the drum ( water goes everywhere ) you can then remove the white filter assembly which is like a shuttle **** with ping pong ball in it. clean out fully and make sure its all back together as before.

Hotpoint WD64 is not spinning or emptying

check the pump, make sure drain hose is not cloghed, ensure the belt is in the place, spin the drum a bit by pulling the belt. then give it a go.

Hotpoint Aquarius Washer dryer WD64 Not Heating Wash Water

hi pw82,

its seems you're doing your home work. that cylindrical part is the thermostat itself. it should have a resistance in the range of kilo ohms. around 10 kohm to 25 kohms. you can try to change the range of your testing equipment so that you could be sure that te thermostat is really open circuit.

if there is no resistance, then that is the problem. if there is resitance in the kilo ohms range then it could still be ok and you need todo some further testing.

you can check for voltage presence at the terminlas of the heater. if there is no voltage then it could be the relay on the power board that supply voltage to the heater.
or the board itself.

i hope i was able to help..please rate me..tnx
