What video card are you trying to use?

If you mean you need a 6 pin or 8 pin PCI-e Graphics power connector, these are available from any good computer or electronics store. They connect to spare SATA or 4 pin peripheral power cables from your computer's powersupply. Make sure you know which power cables you have available in the machine, as well as the requirements of the video card (1 or 2 cables, 6 pin or 8 pin), before you choose your PCI-eG power cable.

     Make sure that you have the latest drivers from the manufacturer of your new video card.
     

   • 2

     Remove the video drivers for the current video card. Check the Start menu for any Remove utilities specifically for the current video card.
     

3 Remove the current video card in the Device Manager. Now you're ready to install the new video card.

4 Turn off the computer and disconnect it from the power source.

5 Follow directions from the computer's user manual to open the case. In most cases, you'll just remove a side panel.

6 Locate the AGP video slot. If there is a video card in it, remove the video card.

7 Orient the new video card so that the metal bracket lines up with an open slot in the back of your computer and the gold contacts on the video card line up with the opening in the AGP connector.

8 Push the new video card into the AGP slot with steady, gentle pressure.

9 Connect any power cables to the power supply.

10 Secure the video card in place with a screw through the card bracket into the computer case.

11 Close up the case, following the computer manual's instructions.

12 Reattach the power cord, monitor cable, keyboard and mouse.

13 Power up your computer. Windows will detect the new video card and ask if you want to install it now. Click "OK" or "Yes."

14 If prompted, direct Windows to the directory where the video drivers are located. Follow the prompts to install the drivers for the new video card.

That means that the monitor is not getting a signal from the computer. There are several possible issues involved. 1) Make sure that the computer tower is on. 2) Check that the video cable is connected to the active port on the desktop. (Computers often have video connections on the motherboard and an added video card. The motherboard connection is disabled when the video card is active. Similarly if there are several ports (VGA, DVI, HDMI, Display port) only one may be active.) 3) Try a new video cable (if possible) and one of the other video ports (again if possible). 4) Try connecting a different monitor to the computer or connecting this monitor to another computer.

Open up the computer and check if the card requires a separate power connection to the power supply. Make sure it is plugged in. Do the fans in the computer spin up?

If a second monitor doesn't work or the monitor works on another computer, then the problem is with the video adapter on the computer, the power supply or the power switch. On the monitor unplug the power and video cable. Plug the power cable in, and then the monitor cable. Power off your computer, then turn on the monitor. After you power on the monitor, turn the computer on.

Hi, video can be transferred to your computer from the camera by using the USB cable that came with the camera. Just hook the cable up to the camera and the computer, and then you can transfer files to your computer by using the screen and joystick on the camera.

The only requirement is that the camera has to be on AC power when you transfer files, so you'll have to remove the battery and set up the AC power cable and DC power cable before you can transfer any files. If you try it on battery power, the camera's screen will tell you to put it on AC power.

You should go to the HP support website and look up the specifications on your computer. They will tell you what kind of graphics support your system has (such as AGP 4X, AGP 8X, etc.). The next thing is to understand what kind of maximum power for the video card is supported by your computer. If you get too powerful a video card for your computer, the internal circuit breaker will be tripped and you won't have any video. If you don't intend on using your computer for intense video gaming, you should be able to easily find a sufficiently powerful video card that is an improvement over your current one while still working well in your computer.

Yes, a bad video card could prevent the computer from starting at all. Your monitor is going into power save mode because the computer isn't sending a video signal. This could be due to many things, power supply, memory, video card, processor. Try blowing all the dust from it and reseating all the components.

There are a couple things that you need to look at. The first is your power supply. I've had computers seeming to run fine with no video. Turned out to be bad power supplies.
Does your video card require a power connection? Many high-end video cards need an external power connection. If the card has a power connection, use it.
Have you gone in and checked the cmos settings? What does it say (if anything) for the default video?
Now remove all connections to drives (hard drive and CD and try for video. Try it.
Next, if possible, swap out memory.
After you've tried everything (including maybe burning incense), time to try a new motherboard.

The video signal is not reaching your monitor, check the pins on the connector from the monitor to the computer, then check the video card:

Turn off your computer, unplg the power, and then take out the video card. Wait 5 minutes and then put the card back into the computer and turn it on. For onboard video; turn off the computer, unplug the power, then hold down the power button on the front for 5-10 seconds, then plug back in and turn on.

Make sure the video card is snug in the AGP/PCI slot. If this is built-in video, try borrowing a video card from another computer and install it in this one. If the borrowed card works, then replace you card. If video is built in, then you can disble the onboard video and use the new card without having to replace your motherboard.
