My dvd r/rw drive will not open
Click Start menu
On the right under your user icon you will see Computer or My Computer
Click there, you will see a list of drives in your computer
Right click on dvd drive and choose eject

Unfortunately optical drives do have a short life span, you can buy a replacement from newegg.com so cheaply these days its not worth messing with the old one.

Should be just a straight ribbon cable, you can use either a 50 or an 88 cable, on a 50 the dvd must be set as master using the jumper configuration. On an 88 you just set the jumpers for cable select and make sure that you use the furthest connect on the ribbon cable from the device as your master. Nothing too complicated about it.
