You just need to get an audio jack that plugs in your ipod jack (headphone jack) and then goes to audio right and left (the other end is split into red audio and white audio) I got mine from walmart for like $15.00

Can I connect my ipod to my yamaha htr 5540 via some kind of cable?

Yes - just go to electronics store and buy a 3.5 to 2 RCA lead and plug the 3.5 plug into your IPOD and the RCA plugs into the Aux sockets on your Yamaha. Job done

How do I hook my ipod to this yamaha device HTR-5850 -- is there a piece of hardware I can get to interface? thanks

Get a 1/8" miniplug-to-RCA-cable adapter and plug the headphone output directly into any compatible input on the receiver. Press PLAY.

Read the article (it's short). Don't buy into the hype about better cables. IPOD's don't stack up as hi-fi to begin with and cables are cables are cables....

I am trying to hook up my Yamaha Universal Dock YDS-11 for my iPod touch into my Yamaha HTR 5830 Amp but there is not where to plug it into. Do I need another type of cables to do this.

Hi, I'm afraid that your receiver doesn't support YDS-11. You can check it at yamaha site. This dock uses special cable and special connector on the receiver (which yours doesn't have).
So the only way to connect your iPod to receiver is via analog audio output (jack connector on the iPod).

I have a HTR 5650 receiver and a 4gig apple ipod. I am looking for a way to hook my ipod to my receiver so I can hear the music through my receiver, and if possible get the video to my t.v.

Yamaha does make a docking station for the iPod but your receiver doesn't have the input for it. You can use this cable, http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=208112882&listingid=57249305 and connect the cables to the back of the receiver. To set up the iPod tv out settings go here http://macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2005/11/18/video-ipod.html . Good luck!

The HDMI "input" ports damage output ports of connecting devices

i know this sounds stupid, but have you "toggled" or "played" with the HDMI cables? are they the same manufacturer? HDMI channel connections are very fickle. If just one connection is not exactly correct, they go to a limp, no go status. Since they run at such a minimal voltage, i can't see them "blowing" the outputs on the devices.however....if your cable has a serial type output for video only, I would connect the hdmi convertor to it and see if it works.

Is it possible to play my ipod nano through my Receiver?

If it doesn't have a jack made for plugging Mp3 players into it like the new car stereo's do than you just have to go buy an FM transmitter that is made for Mp3 players. It will play through one of your low FM frequency's on your receiver. You can generally pick one up for around $20

HTR 5790

Hi,

Yes, you would need an iPod to RCA Cable that will connect to your iPod and to the RCA Auxilliary input of the Yamaha HTR-5790 7.1 Channels Receiver. Similar to a Cygnett Groove Transit - MP3 Phone to RCA Stereo Cable or an iPod to RCA Retractable Cable.

Good luck and kind regards.
