2005 dodge dakota horn honks while arming vehicle with Viper alarm instralled

I have a viper alarm installed with the voice module that says "Viper Armed" and "protected by viper stand back", problem is when the viper system responds to a "triggered" threat or simply arming the system the horn honks as well drowning out the Viper security systems siren... where can i find the trigger wire of a relay somewhere so that the horn does not honk upon arming the security system?

I found the issue, it was an OEM issue. I found that the remote can honk the horn upon locking the vehicle, or not... I simply looked in the owners manual and was able to turn off the horn honk using the OEM remote, easy peasy

i dont think viper is the oem's security system

  • Anonymous Jul 25, 2012

Well of course viper is not OEM DA, if you would have read the comment it said it was a part of dodges OEM features

Viper Alarm app says Not Armed but locked

If the Viper Alarm app is showing that the alarm is "Not Armed" but the vehicle is locked, it is possible that the alarm system is not communicating properly with the app.
One solution is to try resetting the alarm system by disconnecting the car battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. This can sometimes help to reset the communication between the alarm system and the app.
If this does not work, it may be necessary to contact Viper customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide troubleshooting tips or suggest a software update for the app or alarm system.

Out of nowhere, the doors will not lock or unlock when armed, the blue led light stays on constantly after the car is turned off and the horn no longer honks when arming or disarming.

The system is in valet. Press the "F" button twice then, press unlock. This will take the system out valet. This will handle the blue light/horn honk. As for the door locks, that may very well be another issue.

Just baught a truck with a viper alarm, worked great then today i unlocked the truck with the viper remote and when i open the door the horn goes crazy for for about 1 min not the accual alarm! but at the...

Can be somewhat complicated to explain, particularly without knowing the make, model & year of the truck and which bypass was used to integrate into the factory systems. But here's one thing it might be. The Viper system is aftermarket obviously, when the alarm is triggered the siren with start to sound, and sometimes the horn will honk as well (depending on the vehicle and the bypass). If the siren isn't blaring that means the Viper system was disarmed when you unlocked the doors but not your factory security....or another way to word it is if only the horn is honking and no siren then you're factory alarm system isn't being controlled by the viper remote the way it should be. The factory disarm wire needs to be connected. It's a light green wire with a black stripe in a red connector in the Viper alarm brain. For anything more specific I'd need some more info on the vehicle. You can email me at [email protected] if you'd like.

My viper 5900 has no reaction to someone touching it nor does the horn sound when it is armed. How do I set it to the most sensitive setting along with the horn sounding off upon alarming?

You have to find the clear mini shock sensor and use a philips screw driver to tune it up. As far as the horn that is a not a simple on/off feature, your installer would have needed to charge extra to do that.

Replaced the battery in my car need to reset my viper alarm

Alarms are not supposed to shut down the engine while you are driving if it was installed properly. Could be another installed accessory or the car itself has a problem. If it was in anti-hijack mode, you would receive a warning like honking horn. You may have to visit a repair shop and maybe your local Viper dealer to have them take a look. DC

Viper 5901, Ford 2008 6.4/ When I use the trucks door keypad

If you use the viper remote to arm the alarm, you MUST use the viper remote to disarm the alrm prior to opening the door. The only REAL solution is to add the keyless entry feature to the viper system, and quit using hte factory remote all together.

Viper alarm, lights dont flash

Sounds to me like the parking light output wire. They usually have a seperate fuse or the connection is bad. The connection on your vehicle should be behind the pass side kick panel and look for a wire to the white/purple wire and check that with a meter or light to see if it's kick out power. There is a possibility they used the negative trigger through a resister and that would be located behind the headlight switch. That will at least let you know and trace down the problem. Here is a link with that parking light info for yours. Hope this helps and let me know if you have more questions.
