Cancelled self-clean, F9 code came up, door lock light flashing, can't use oven

I set the self-cleaning option. I had to cancel it. When I pushed the cancel button, the F9 error code came up. Then it started beeping. Door lock light began flashing. There was a noise like the door lock mechanism was trying to engage or disengage. Continued beeping. Beeping finally stopped. Door lick light still flashing. Unable to use oven.

It is a Sears Kenmore Electric Range Model # 790.95661103. If possible I would like to know how to repair problem myself without having to call Sears to come in and repair at huge expense.

    Thanks.

HI,
your model number confirms that your range was manufactured by WCI (Frigidaire). although this doesn't help you now, it may help if parts are needed.

now, there is an indepth guide online to fixing this common problem and I would like you to go through it and see if it helps you solve your problem.

If you have found this site previously then I apologise, if you still need help, by all means post again and someone more qualified may help.

Hope this is of use to you ;)

Phil

Pushed the clean button, the oven locked, and the screen started beeping and flashing f9 or f7. I hit cancel, and the oven is still locked and the clean button is sill flashing.... It has been 10 hrs!

The F9 code indicates there is a problem with the door lock.

Try disconnecting the power to the range for 10 seconds and reconnecting. Open the oven door and hold the door switch plunger in while you try these things. Put the control into clean for 5 minutes then cancel clean. You must hold the door switch plunger in for the 5 minutes.

Try canceling the clean cycle without putting the control into clean.

Self clean oven door wouldn't unlock!

Hi,
Try a trick that was given by an expert :-
All I needed to do was unscrew the 2 screws holding the lock assembly and it released it!! I screwed it back in and set the oven to self clean and it worked!!
Unless , F9 refers to slave micro not working. A condition in which you might need to replace control board.
Thanks.

Amana EvenAir Convection Plus Self Cleaning Oven will not unlock.

My oven was locked and would not open. No lock light was on but the oven was clearly locked. F9 error when I hit certain buttons.

Try this. I unplugged the oven for about 5 minutes. Plugged back in. A LOCK light came on. Held down "Oven Cancel" for a few seconds. Door opened and lock light went off. No more F9 error when I hit those buttons.

Oven door won't unlock

I asked for help with an Amana F9 code problem earlier today .I had set self clean oven on and then after 2 hours cancelled it. After 1/2 hr it began to beep and displaideda F9 code and I couldn't get it to unlock. Tried manual tip to turn off circuit breaker for 3 minuetes then turn back on. Did this 3 times to no avail.Tried 20 minutes also zip.Contacted Amana and all they would tell was to call a service rep. I gave her apiece of my mind that I wouln't do that because I wasn't going be paying for such an issue.
Your site was my salvation.( STP685) Suggested I push bake and once I did the oven started to heat and unlocked itself.! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

F9 code

I hit the same F9 problem when trying to self-clean, except that the door was locked OPEN.

After much trial and error, I found the following fix: 1. Switch circuit breaker off. 2. Switch circuit breaker on. 3. Press Bake button. 4 Press the small/inside button which indicates that the oven door is closed.

The lock mechanism opened and the oven now works fine.
