Our Kenmore is 8 years old (Sears). Was working fine until a few days ago. It began balking at the spin cycle. We were able to get it going again a couple of times, but now it won't spin or drain at all.

My Kenmore just stopped spinning. I have to wring my clothes out by hand after a wash, then manually drain the washtub and tilt it to get all the dirty water out. Then I have to run fresh water to put it through a rinse cycle and finally wring my clothes then hang them out on the line to dry. Once they are dry i take them to a dryer and put dryer sheets in them and that is how I iron. This is so tedious. My sister thinks that I need a belt on the machine but the instructions inside the door suggest that I change a fuse? my dad started taking the knobs off the machine to get to the fuse part but after 10 minutes he decided he didnt want to invest the time and suggested I buy a new one. I am going to get the strength to change the fuse one of these days because it can't be physically harder than washing clothes by hand for 6 people.
My washer (Kenmore 80 series) stopped working last night. It washed the clothes, but when it got ready to spin, the dial turned and it sounded as if the water was started to drain out, but it abruptly stopped and nothing else happened.
