Normally there is a micro switch fixed at the awivl head of the lcd panel. when the lcd is rotated to 180 the switch gets engaged thus turns the image upside down. most probably the switch has worn out.

On my sony dcr-sr82 handycam the lcd screen only works when it is fliped 180 degrees

The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Screen has rotated 180 degrees

I have lots of Dell monitors and none of them has the ability to flip the screen orientation built into them. What I suspect has happened is he accidentally hit a keystroke combination that activated a feature in your video card driver. If you have the built-in Intel Extreme Graphics read this link and let us know if it helps. http://engtech.wordpress.com/2006/08/01/stupid-windows-features-monitor-display-turns-sideways-or-upside-down/

Justin, The orientation switch for the LCD module is located on the horizontal shaft which supports the monitor. The switch can be damaged or break off inside the LCD cabinet and cause this symptom. Also, we have seen the harness rubbing against the metal bracket and tear which causes the signal to be lost which directs the microprocessor to invert the image. I hope this helps you.
