Hi, I own a Samsung S630 digital camera and i have only had it for about 7 months. Every time i try to view my pictures it says file error on the screen, but if i press the left circle button a couple of times i'm able to view the pictures. Also my flash stopped working. About two days ago i took some pictures and noticed that they seemed a lil dark, then my batteries died, i took them out to recharge them the next day i put them back in and started to take pictures and the camera would not flash. The small orange light comes on but does not flash and i am still able to take pictures but of course with out the flash they are of poor quality. :( Can you please help me!.. Thanks..

Hi, you may have seem my postings on other Samsung bogs, but this is my update. My little red S630 keeps on ticking and has not had one problem with the blings, beeps and shutting down SINCE I tapped the camera lightly on both sides--but not top or bottom--of camera. Apparently this made things go back in alignment. And I also wiggled the lens as the lens was stuck and not retract. I had bought the camera in Aug 07 and it had taken great picts and was so easy to use..until the shut down with beeps/blings.
I am reporting that here today, this March 19th, the camera is still going strong and I have had it out on the farm here in Tenn and in snow and cold weather and it stilll works! It went from being super sensitive to a very durable camera. And i just throw it in my purse or backpack. No case or extra protection. And my four year old granddaughter uses it also.
My camera also had all the problems that everyone has mentioned--and saying card full when I had only taken a few shots or batteries already used up when they were new and I had just inserted them.
I use the very basic Kodak rechargable batteries and get plenty shots. And even when it says low battery, if I shut the camera down and wait a few minutes, and turn it back on, I can get many more shots. I have a total of FOUR batteries...two in the camera and two that I keep charged up and always with me.
That way, I never have to worry abt the dreaded camera shut down when some important shot comes up. The 15.00 or 20.00 dollars (can't remember exact price) I paid for the Kodak battery recharger with the batteries has paid for itself many times over. The regular batteries were going to cost me a fortune at the rate I was going thru them.
I have also tried going back to regular batteries and I found the Energizer batteries works fine. So, it is nice to know I can use them if I find myself in some situtaion where they are the only batteries available.
I did what the others suggested also. I have the things turned off that I don't need or rarely use. I don't have the sound on and I don't keep the LCD on. I shoot in 1mp most of time which is all I need for my purposes--granddaughter and my dogs-- and they email very easy.
I still wish that Samsung would address this problem and make it known what the solution is. If our solution of getting it back in aligment is the answer, how much better it would be if they would make this known rather than have many many folks buy camera and only give up on it and then give it negative remarks. I see the comments on almost every site I go to that mentions the Samsung cameras.
It is really a great camera for the price, but it has to work. I am curious by nature and just did not want to let the camera problem defeat me!

This problem is usually caused by grit in the mechanics of the lense. To resolve the problem:
1. Ensure the lense itself is clear, removing any visible objects.
2. Try tapping / knocking the camera to dislodge any obstruction.
3. Failing this you can force the mechanics by turning the lense sections - however be careful when attempting this as you may snap the lense if turned too hard or the wrong way.

Yes you are correct lens is struck
* Carefully inspect around it for dirt or debris
* If you see any dirt or debris around the lens, use canned air to gently blow it away
* After removing dirt and debris, turn the camera on and off
This should work

Remove the battery, wait for 20 seconds and replace it.
Check that you are not in Replay mode.
Now switch on and see if the system has reset.
If it will not reset, go back to the dealer.
