Hi ! I have this nice D-520 which was working fine until one day i left it lying on the shelf for over a month with a non-standard ebay kinda NiMh battery in it. When i picked it up again , predictably the batteries were dead, so i replaced them with my newly charged energizer batteries and ...nothing...it used to make a slight whirring sound but this time it didn't. And then it started blinking and beeping. Now usually when i retract the lens cover (with fresh batteries in it) it just starts beeping and blinking the two lights, orange and green, near the view finder. However, sometimes...and i am not certain what makes it work.... a combination of frustrated shakes, leaving it without batteries for 24 hours..fresh charged batteries...carefully opening the lens cover ....kissing it ..what i don't know ...but sometimes, it does turn on. When it does it can take about 8-10 continuous pics with flash before turning off and starting the whole blink and beep routine all over again. so, does anybody have any idea what is wrong ? and what i can do ?
I'm having the same problem with mine. Happens on rechargeables or brand new standard batteries as well. Very frustrating. I can't take more than 2 videos in a row without the dreaded orange/green lights flashing (low battery warning). Leaving it for 10-20 minutes and it works again, with the battery charge showing full.
