Computer not recognizing Camera

When I connect my camera to the computer and press PC, the screen says one moment and then never connects to the computer. When I go to the Olympus software on the computer, it says that there is no camera attached to the USB port. Can anyone help me? I would love to be able to get the pictures off of the camera.

Thanks!

Are you always using the same USB-port on your PC? If yes try to use another USB-port.
If the above solution will not work try to re-install the camera drivers.

Check the LCD screen of the camera. You should get a message when you first plug it in to select the usb type. highlight PC and press ok. The screen should display one moment please then go off. Then the camera should be recognized by the computer.

How do i transfer my videos from my camera to my PC???

Hi ,
Connect camera to power and USB .
Set power button on "on".
Rotate selection ring knob on "play" ( green arrow ) and open screen .
Wait for camera to be recognized by your OS ( sound " ding dong " in Windows for instance ) .
With joystick inside ring knob , select " PC connect " on the screen of the camera , press on joystick to PC, press again to HDD and wait for connection confirmation .
Now open " My computer " or " computer " on your machine . You will see the camera recognized as a supplementary drive . Clic on the icon , see the files and copy them to your HDD .
Note there are MOD files , you can reed them on your machine but still will not be abble to create a dvd .
Please , look in " fanaudi's solutions" if you need to solve this new issue .
Thank you for visiting FixYa .

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Did you install all software that came with your camera? If so, you should've seen a balloon on the bottom right corner of the computer screen saying the software was "successfully installed and ready to use" at the time of installation. Try this, then turn on the camera and connect it to the computer. The message doesn't go away because it's constantly looking for a connection to your computer, which your computer isn't detecting and is most likely that the proper drivers (which are in the CD) were not installed.

Olympus x-785 digital camera is not identified by my pc

Make sure the camera is on and pc is selected on the camera screen when connected to the computer. You will need to have PC highlighted and select ok on the camera as this starts the camera and computer to communicate. Once communication established the LCD screen of the camera goes dark and the computer should generate a removable disk drive. Check the System Tray (lower right corner beside the PC time) for Safely Remove Hardware. When you click on it, it should read "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device Drive ?:" If you dont see that, then check the Device Manager to see if the camera is recognized as USB Mass Storage Device. Sounds like you may need to reinstall the device driver for the camera. The camera uses the driver usbstor.

With the camera turned off, connect the USB cable to the PC and plug the smaller end into the camera. The camera will turn on and display the USB selection screen. Use the arrow keys to select the PC option and then press the OK button. The camera will be recognized by the computer as a removable drive. To edit and manage images with a computer, install the Olympus Master 1.0 software from the supplied CD-ROM. After installing the software, connect your camera to the PC via the provided USB cable.
