Screen will not respond to stylis
I noticed this problem with mine and solved it by loosening the 4(four) T5 screws in the back. The problem is caused by a swollen battery. When the PDA is left charging for extensive periods of time, as mine was(several months of inactivity and never thought to unplug it), the battery will swell. It's still a good battery and holds a charge, but the increased girth presses on the internal boards of the PDA causing the screen to register a continuous "touch" and therefore seems locked. It's actually waiting for the phantom touch to release so it can act. Unscrewing the fasteners allows the body to expand, thereby releasing the pressure on the screen and letting the phantom touch go away. I'm going to see how well my e2 does without the screws in it at all for a few days. The front and back panels have "clips" molded into them which hold to the side frames, keeping it closed. But the fasteners are there to ensure the PDA doesn't fall apart all together. So, wish me luck. I'll report back in a few days and update this.
I had the same problem. I saw somewhere that detaching the battery for a while might help. I opened the case (after finally finding a T5 screwdriver...), detached the battery, then plugged it back in. It didn't help, but I realized as I was screwing the case back on that loosening up the screws a bit did restore the functioning of the screen.
Had the same problem. Touch screen no longer responded.
The problem was solved by opening the 4 screws on the back, disconnecting the little plastic square that connects the battery to the wires and reconnecting. (Use a small tweezer to pull it off) Then recalibrate the screen. It worked fine after.

On my Tungsten e2 I had to change my battery. After changing it my touch screen was frozen and the power switch would not work. So I googled the issue and it brought me to this forum. I saw

E2 touchscreen
Touch screen sometimes wont respond to my stylus. Also alignment is way off even thou I have done the touchscreen application in pref many times over. If any one knows what could be wrong please let me know.

Initially I had the same problem where the stylus didn't function at the correct location and I would continually adjust the touchscreen. Then it totally went out and the touchscreen does not work at all now.
After replacing the screen (my toddler accidently smashed the original when he was playing) the stylus input goes about an inch off the actual physical contact point. I took it apart several times, reset, plugged in, everything I could think of. :( I really liked this PDA and I can't afford a new one, which is why I replaced the screen. Now I wasted $75 on a screen and the stupid thing still doesn't work.
Same thing. I started noticing that writing was more difficult and alignment was off, even though I re-did alignment often. Now I get nothing on the touch screen. I have re-set it, no change. The buttons work, but that is it.
