I took my Singer Quantum XL 1 machine in for service and now the red button (for emergency stop and also push for manual sewing - it is below the reverse button on the face of the machine over the needle bar) doesn't work and he has no idea what is wrong. Originally it jammed when I tried an embroidery stitch with the open throat foot and not the embroidery one, but it unjammed when he looked inside the left cover to service it. What could it be, and is it an easy fix? I don't want to take it in to someone else as it is $100 just to show up in my area (and most of these guys are dishonest and charge more with no fix). This guy is trained in many machines, just doesn't have the service manual for this Singer XL 1 as he usually works more on European machines and older domestic ones.
You can purchase the service manual from Sewing Parts Online. If your model is not listed, just email or phone them and they can get it for you.
Just offhand, it sounds to me like he accidentally unplugged the connector that runs it on the motherboard. If so, it's a very easy fix -- the motherboard is under the display and you can often see it by removing the bottom cover (the base). All of those plugs only plug in the right way, and only ONE plug will fit the correct connector.

It depends on your software version. The list of supported formats could be found in the manual, on Futura support site or checked right through the sofware menu (File->Open, File->Save as)

I would suggest contacting singer themselves in your country first off.
http://www.singerco.com/contact-us
They may run mail order spares sales.
Or there is www.sewingpartsonline.com, or www.sewingparts.co.uk who carry a wide range of spares.
try changing the needle--make sure the needle is correct for the fabric
clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or loose threads
if it keeps jamming up & making noises I suggest to have the machine
serviced
