Video thru Onkyo TX-RS606 is only black&white

I just installed an Onkyo TX-SR606 AV receiver (note that this is a 606, not 605). It all worked fine until I repositioned the received after confirming all the hookups were correct and all peripherals (DVR, DVD, TV, speakers) were working together correctly. I had to turn the unit 90 degrees and accidentally bumped some buttons, turning the Onkyo on and off a couple of times and probably cycling other buttons. Now output from the DVR and DVD players is in black and white. TV output is still in color. How do I get back to color output from the Onkyo? Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks,

Are you using HDMI cables or component. First I would try unplugging the composite and component video cables while the receiver is off. Plug them back in and turn it back on. If that does'nt work try setting the receiver to factory default and redo the settings. You can find how to reset to default in your user manual.

How to reset reciever

If you can't resolve the issue yourself, try resetting
the AV receiver before contacting your Onkyo dealer.
To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults,
turn it on and, while holding down the [VCR/DVR]
button, press the [ON/STANDBY] button. "Clear"
will appear on the display and the AV receiver will
enter Standby mode.
Note that resetting the AV receiver will delete your
radio presets and custom settings.

Black and white picture from blu ray player

Run the Blue Ray straight to the TV and see if the picture is still in black and white. If it is you know that your reciever is fine and the problem lies in the player or the TV. If the picture is normal then you probably have a bad HDMI IC that will need to be replaced.

I cannot get video signal from my Samsung p1590 Blu Ray player via HDMI to pass through my Onkyo TX-SR606 AV Receiver. I get video if I connect Blu Ray player directly to TV, and have tried all HDMI ports...

I think this one is for the Onkyo wizards:

I would write them via email here:

However I did find this 2 page hookup manual with nice notes at link listed below that may help you solve the mystery:

(seems you may have to assign the digital input)

http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/QuickHookup/TX-SR606_QSS_En_A.pdf?CFID=918117&CFTOKEN=40624545&jsessionid=f0306ea8a0d68bb60a49102e3e5510576756

Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, you’ll need to assign the digital inputs as
necessary using the setup menus on the TX-SR606’s display.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1
DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver to the COAXIAL 2
DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary to assign the digital input.
The onscreen setup menus appear only on a TV that is
connected to the HDMI OUT. If your TV is connected to the composite video or S-Video MONITOR OUT, or the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT, use the TX-SR606’s display when changing settings.

Thanks for using FixYa!

No audio from pc connected using hdmi

Are you not getting audio to the television speakers and the onkyo reciever speakers when connected HDMI thru the reciever or just the television. If it is just thru the television then it is because the reciever is grabbing the HDMI audio signal and converting it so it does not reach the TV. If it is both then try changing the HDMI signal output from PCM to DOLBY DIGITAL on the computer. Your reciever may not be able to process the PCM signal of the computer. Does the reciever show a PCM or DOBLY DIGITAL display when HDMI is hooked up to it?

Ipod Dock connection

The Red, green, blue from this adaptor cable
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB128LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ&mco=MjE4ODM1NQ

go into any of the RGB inputs on the Onkyo

The R/W go into the corresponding inputs for audio, Red and White.

One thing to note,

IF you are running one source RGB like you want to do,
you may have to monitor output the video of the amp RGB to the TV, most of these amps do not like to mix HDMI with anything else.

So If you have one HDMI going out to the TV, this solution will not work. You should look at the manual for the Onkyo regarding what paths can pass at the same time. There is usually a small disclaimer in the HDMI section.

Hope that solves your question.
