You mean the windows login? To retain the password you should use a Windows password recovery tool. One that I have used is ophcrack , it's excellent and free. Just try googling for it.

when i trun my dell on it shows the sign in page when i put n my user name an password it tells me that its not right ive tried everyone even the qusestion
when computer comes on , just before it begins to load windows keep press f8, you will get a start up options window, pick safe mode start in safe mdoe and goto control panel , user acounts and change name of user acount, maybe this will help then restart .
i dont know what key it is on that laptop but on start up press i think its F5 then click on start in SAFE MODE depending on the laptop it should let you change the password from safemode if F5 does not work try all f5 f6 f8 one will work once in safe mode go to control panel users acount change passwork ..... p.s the end
do you have a guest acount on the computer?Try safe mode once more enter as a guest change the administrator acount password.This can be done under user acount in the control panel

Turn on the computer, as soon as you press the power button, keep tapping F8 until a black screen with options comes up.
Choose the Safe Mode option. Once in Safe Mode, logon with the Administrator account. Once logged on, go to Control Panel to change the password for YOUR user account. Restart back into normal mode after that.
