MACBOOK PRO SuperDrive Reads somes Recorded DVDs fine but some appear as empty while in other mas are fine

Hi My Macbook pro has problems reading some specific Disks that are read without problems in other macbooks.    Is not a random problem, for example we receive recorded DVDs from the same company and DVD-R brand and is always the same DVD the one that doesn't read.  In Disk Utility apears as DVD-RW and they aren't.

Except different, because my computer read dvd's but won't even recognize a Music or blank cd

Yep its random but always the same disks wont read so must be slight differences between disks that are causing problem

Macbook pro will not read dvds

If it reads CDs but not DVDs, the optical drive is faulty. You can get it replaced by an Apple tech, or you can invest in an external optical drive.

MacBook Pro doesn't recognize certain discs? :/

Please excuse me for my bad english.

I spent several hours scratching my head trying stupid and complex solutions like reseting p-ram, re-flashing the unit, etc.

The final solution...
  1. Buy a compressed air can (for electronics cleanning).
  2. Please turn off your MacBook pro
  3. Purge the humidity by pushing a little the trigger. Wait some seconds until it just blows dry and cold air.
  4. Blow air from the tray entering and towards the back of the unit.
  5. Enjoy your movies!
