My unit just sitting there playing a movie stopped and ejected the movie and shut off and would not turn on again.
I tryed DC power but nothing.
I pulled the back cover and found the 4 amp fuse blown.
I replaced it and it blew as soon as I plugged it into AC.
I checked the fuse on the DC cord and it was blown.
I dont know if it's worth repairing? I bought it 3 years ago so I would assume the warrenty has run out.
Anyone need spare parts?
Thanks
Trent

To play a tape on the Sharper Image SA246, follow these steps:
Power on the unit by pressing the "Power" button located on the top of the unit.
Press the "Tape" button located on the front of the unit. This will switch the unit to tape mode.
Press the "Eject" button on the front of the unit to open the tape deck.
Insert the cassette tape into the cassette compartment with the side you want to play facing out.
Press the "Eject" button again to close the tape deck.
Press the "Play" button located on the front of the unit to start playing the tape. You can adjust the volume using the volume knob located on the top of the unit.
To stop the tape, press the "Stop" button located on the front of the unit.
To eject the tape, press the "Eject" button again and remove the tape.
I hope this helps you play your cassette tape on your Sharper Image SA246!
Try first turning off the player and turn it back on and eject it using the eject button on the unit and also try to eject it using the remote.. IF still wont eject this can be a mechanical function on the ejecting part of the unit that you may need to open the unit and check for that..
Hi Kelsey
if it happens with ALL inserted media then i would suspect a problem with the unit itself. Possibly some dirt on the mechanism. Try blowing some air to dislodge it.
If it only happens with certain media (as in certain movies) then its possible the drive has been set for a different region.
You have a transport problem, the mechanism the plays, FF or rewinds is not working.
Someone is going to have to open and look at the unit---as simple as a belt off or broken to the idler (rubber or geared) that doe the actual work, finding a shop that will work on a VCR unit is getting hard as most of the current techs have never seen this type of unit.
What I used to do when I opened one was have a old cassette with the tape removed! but the reels inside of it still there--tape off both sides of the cassette where it opens so the sensors on either side do not try to stop the unit from allowing this.
This way with the unit open and the dummy cassette in you can see thru its top to see if the reels are moving or not and not have the tape get in the way.
