My LG washer wont turn on, if I unplug it from the wall and plug it back in, it will work for one cycle, but then the next time I go to use it, I have to unplug it again to get it to work.

veldebronk's solution worked!! I really didn't think it would but just did it and it works awesome now! Don't spend $ until you try it!!!

I'm happy to read that this quirky solution helped, Jamie. What a relief, huh?

  • veldebronk Mar 19, 2017

Update: After my solution worked for a couple of months, it failed again, so I had to unplug and then plug it back in again to turn my LG washer on. I tried my first solution again, but it did not work this time. But I tried something else that did: I have a second plug above my main plug, which is NOT a grounded plug, so I had to use an adaptor. I plugged my washer into that one, and it has been turning on with the push of the power button every time. I read on the internet of a way to fix a laptop computer whose battery will not charge by trying to plug it into another outlet, because the computer motherboard recognizes the plug that prevents the rechargeable battery from overheating and exploding. So I tried the concept on the washer. Apparently, it resets the electronics. After repeated working this way, I switched the plug back to the original grounded plug. That now works too. So far so good.

After searching for the answer as to why my LG WM2455H wouldn't start unless I unplugged it and then plugged it again, and trying many "solutions", such as holding the power and start buttons for x amount of seconds, I finally found one that worked. Just before ordering a new control panel, I decided to search one more time for an answer, and found a young man claim that his uncle told him the answer to solving the problem. It's a little weird, and I was very skeptical, as you will be, but it DID WORK to let my washer power on after running cycles of wash. Here it is: Within 12 seconds, push in the POWER button and let go, then open and close the washer door, repeat by pushing in power button again, and let it go, then immediately open and close the washer door again. Do this six times within a 12 second time span. According to the young man on youtube, this procedure RESETS the controls. I would still be a little skeptical, except my machine behaves like it's suppose to now. PLUS, I did nothing that might be attributed to the solution (except think about how I was going to move the heavy washer away from the wall to replace the Control Panel I planned to buy). So, I hope this works for you. It certainly saved me a lot of time and money.

This really works! I had the same problem and did the power on, then open & close door 6x in 12 seconds. Don't spend $ on a repair until you try this!!!

This worked for me too! I was about to order a new control board for my lg washer, so glad I tried this. Thought it might be a joke but now my washer turns on every time without unplugging and plugging back in. Lg customer service was no help by the way. Thank you!

My LG washer did the same thing. I almost bought another Display Control board but it was the 5 pin connector. I pushed it together, it just moved together a slight amount and it has been coming on, without unplugging ever since. Talked to a LG parts guy, he said they sold 27 this year and 55 last year (display control boards) I wonder how many were for this problem?

SOURCE: My LG Washer (WM2277HB) will not turn on when the button is press

If the unit is not displaying any error codes, the this issue is because the main board is faulty.

There is a chance the front display board my be faulty, but that is way less likely.

If you need a part number, I can help you locate it.

I had the same problem with my LG washer today. I found another post that said to hold down the start pause button 5 seconds, plug back in so you have power, run on drain/spin at highest spin speed. I did it and so far after each load it has not shut down.

the Hall sensor (part number 6501KW2001A) has failed. The hall sensor is rather easy to replace, and is covered by a seven year part warranty. Take the back cover off. Take the big nut off and remove the motor rotor. Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Snap new sensor on and reassemble. Usually takes under a half hour. On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10, it might rate a 4. This should be a Fix-Ya for your machine, and at basically no cost!

LG washer #WM2655HVA won't start again after a cycle, unless unplugged, hand-turn drum, makes a beep, static spark as plugged back in, then a new cycle begins. Why?

Have you checked the wall power outlet for proper ground and
polarity? Try using another outlet near by using a "heavy duty"
3 prong extension cord. If problem persist chances are the Main
PCB is bad.

Lg washer cycles button not responding

One simple thing you can try is to unplug the electrical cord from the wall for at least a minute then plug it back in and try the machine. This worked for me recently on an LG front loader that I was asked to look at. The machine wouldn't respond until I reset it then it worked fine.

LE error

I tried a solution I found elsewhere - worked great. I had turned my drum enough to cause the display to turn on (a glitch in their program, I think), then I got the LE code on the next cycle.

Unplug for 10 minutes. Turn back on and press the Rinse & Spin button, then set Spin Speed to No Spin. Run this cycle, which should work fine. Afterwards, you should be able to run your machine as normal. If this doesn't work, replacing the Hall sensor would be the next step.

If you have a moldy smell, run a no-clothes cycle with some liquid bleach. Should clear that up.

LE Code on control panel

Press "end of cycle". Plug off the wall. Code can be an indication of several issues. The most common cause is over-sudsing in the machine. Overloading the wash with too much laundry may also cause the LE error code. Lastly, a breakdown in the signal between the microprocessor and the motor may cause that error code. This can occur if there is a loose wire, see that all wires are tightened..........
