Washing machine performs a limited spin cycle but not enough to extract all the water from the clothes or the tub. Clothes still drip. When you place your hand on the maching during the spin cycle you can feel how weak the spinning is.
It sound to me to be the water pump, with all the water in the tub, the machine dont spin ok, and the water is extracted by centifugal force, not by pumping as it should be, call a tech, this is a hard job for regular people..good luck
FYI: Maytag lost a class action lawsuit on this issue and was required to replace the board (~$300) free of charge for a limited time. However, that time has passed... This means YOU get to fix it - and it is expensive.
Note: This part WILL fail again - we get about 5 years use per board. We have six active kids - so we run about one load a day or more. I will NEVER buy another Maytag again because of this problem.
And some tiems the WAX MOTOR which locks the door during spin cycle may burn out and not lock the door you need to replace this part it is about $ 30 and fairly easy to install except you need to open the top and front side of the machine if you need further assistance you can email me at [email protected]
Is the machine really trying to ramp up or is it just tumbling back and forth during spin cycle?
If it is trying to ramp up the speed then immediately shuts down and tumbles back and forth again this can be caused by an open in the out-of-balance circuit. There are three inertia / unbalance switches in a series circuit. If any one of these switches is open the machine will attempt to ramp up. Next, the microprocessor checks this circuit and if it sees that it is open then it thinks the machine is out of balance and shuts back down, tumbles and will try to ramp up again. Look in your console area for a schematic which will show the electrical wiring and you can locate the three switches and check them with an ohmmeter for continuity.
If it is just tumbling back and forth then it may not be getting the switch contact from the spin enable switch located in the door latch assembly. Does the door locked light come on in spin cycle? You don't have the door latch wax motor issue to worry about on the MAH5500B series Neptune but you could have a problem with your door latch assembly. Maytag also made it so you have to replace the whole door latch assembly and cannot replace just the spin enable switch located in the assembly as you can on the wax motor door latch assembly.
I have a MAH5500AWH and experienced the same problem twice. Both times the R11 resistor on the control board was burnt up. The board is behind the cycle selector dial. To check, remove the outside screws holding the metal backplate for the user control console. Do not remove the inside screws as these hold components to the backplate. My advice is to replace the whole board. You can buy a new one (expensive) or try and get a used one from a repliance repair/parts center.

Sir,
I have a Maytag Model # LA8340 S# 200649 Washing machine performs a limited spin cycle but not enough to extract all the water from the clothes or the tub. Clothes still drip. When you place your hand on the maching during the spin cycle you can feel how weak the spinning is.
Please help, [email protected]
Thanks
machine drains but does not spin water out of clothes
mmmmmm
after looking at solution 1 from neptune_dude, i tried following:
(have a MAH4000)
- manually pressed the door-closed switch, and after having removed cover, manually triggered the 2 switches inside (1 just right-above of the wax motor, 1 right-above of the door-lock, so about4 inches right of wax motor). With this i had the full-spin, not only back-and-forth
- replaced the wax motor. now, no matter what i do, the wax motor never moves. So seems that the command to move the wax motor never comes.
Question: does that mean borad problem, or should i check fopr anything else first ?
Thx in advance
Charles
code OL comes on at end of cycle and clothes not extracted
it won't spin in high speed mode to extract water and when cycle hits 6 minutes it stops and jumps to zero
water will not stay in tub during washing
washer washed clothes and drained some water out but will not spin out and spin light stays on drum will not settle down in position to spin
Doesn't matter the cycle I use, there is very little water in the washer tub ( does not cover the clothes). Is this normal?
don't seam like their enough water in machine to wash clothes--don;t come out eclean
We have to pre wet all clothes prior to washing because washer doesn't insert enough water during cycle. Model #m042968
I am trying to spin dry my clothes in my twin tub machine and the dryer is not spinning. Any suggestions?
