How to replace both inner and outer tv screens ?

Relativity easy to do yourself, but better if you have some one to help, all you need is a Philips head screwdriver, and the replacement screens, the technical name for them are Lenticular Screen, and Fresnel, one is white, and the other is black.

You start by taking off the screws in the back of the the TV, there are screws along the top, both sides, and there are two on the the bottom right, and two on the bottom left, and there are three on the front by the power and channel and volume buttons. then grab one side and have your partner grab the other, and pull straight off.

IMPORTANT!!!!! DO NOT TOUCH THE WHITE SCREEN WITH YOUR BARE HANDS, IT IS COVERED WITH A POWDER AND CANNOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH ANY FLUIDS, INCLUDING THE OIL ON YOUR HANDS!

There are four bars that hold the screens in, one on top, bottom left and right. to remove the top, left and right you have to wiggle them loose after removing the screws.

The Black screen will go in first, make sure that the smooth side is what you will be looking at when you are done, the white screen will go right on top of it, the rough side of the white screen will meet with the rough side of the black screen.

then put the screen assembly back on, and replace screws.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions, let me know.

BLACK SPOT ON TV DUE TO DIRECT SPRAY ON SCREEN

The lenticular lens will have to be replaced. It is not an easy task to do as there is quite a bit of tear down needed to do so. The part number for the screen is 2-590-450-01 there is also a screen right behind the lenticular called the fresnel lens which will possibly get damaged taking the unit apart. The part number for it is 2-590-449-02. I would suggest having a technician do the replacement, that way if they damage the replacement screens its on them and not you. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

I have 2 of these tvs. One has a problem with the electronics and turns on but no picture comes. The other has what I believe is a tear in the lenticular in the middle of the screen. Is it possible to...

Yes, be careful when handling the screens, make sure you put the screen in the same way you took it out, be sure and not to put it in backwards. I would even suggest using white gloves. If you get a finger print in between the screens you will kick yourself later.

I need to replace a broken screen on my sony kf 50we610

Hi drdoolittle,

Some screens have labels, so place them so the labels are upright and tward the front of the TV.

The outside screen is the lenticular screen. The black vertical lined side is outside. The fresnel screen has very fine circular lines in it. You can find them by feeling them. This goes against the lenticular back side of the screen. the fesnel has a flat side that is the back. It will be tward the mirror. If the mirror has two shiny sides, then it should be placed with the mirror side out. You can tell this by placing your finger tip on the mirror. If the finger nail meets a fingernail, then this is the mirrored side. Install this side tward the front.

Try to keep dust from between the screens. Check by looking through the screens before you put the in the frame. Then check them again after you put them in the frame.

Wear latex gloves to keep finger prints away.

Clean back of screen assembly and install the screen on the TV.

You can now watch the TV.

Broken lenticular screen

I have been looking around for one myself. And have actually resorted to calling all of the "Mom&Pop" repair shops in town to see if they have one in the backroom or something. The problem is that most of the finds you get for lenticular on the web have to do with advertising signs and baseball cards. These lenticular sheets are only similar in how they feel to the touch. The lenticular lense on a rear projection tv actually blocks the image behind it and diffuses the light at specific angles. It is also very likely the specific manufacturers used slightly different pitches in the viewing angle, so that you have to replace it with their screen. I will definately continue to watch this posting because I need one as well.
