Wireless Access Point Problem

I had a working Belkin F5D7130 WAP until it quit on me a few days ago. All light work, it can not be seen on my network. I have tried to access it via its internal software using the IP address that I had originally set (192.168.0.25) as well the IP addresses that Belkin normally uses as the default for these kinds of devices (192.168.2.254 and 192.168.2.1). This is true despite many attempts to restore and/or reset this device. I think that is may still work, but I am unable to "see" the WAP via internet explorer or even ping the device when wired to a stand-alone laptop with a Cat 5 cable. Any thoughts? Or should I just chuck the darn thing in the trash and buy a new WAP of a different brand?

Only thing thats worth trying is hold the reset button on the router in for 10 secs. see if it makes any difference. you could install a new firmware but not likely to make much difference for that kinda fault.. John

I can not get it to work at all. Is there a CD I need to get this set up? I have a Linksys wireless G router and the Belkin F5D7130 plugged in to it. But I have no range.

You don't need a CD - there is a web interface. First, download the user manual here.

I suspect your problem is the Linksys/Belkin combination. Linksys by default uses a subnet of 192.168.1.xxx while Belkin uses 192.168.2.xxx. With a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (the default for both), no communication would be possible between these two subnets. The "255" in each of those first three octets means they must match exactly.

Either move the Linksys to 192.168.2.xxx or the Belkin to 192.168.1.xxx (and keep the same subnet mask) OR you can change the subnet mask to a broader one (255.255.254.0) that allows the two different subnets to talk to each other. This subnet mask would have to be applied to both devices.

According to the manual, the default address of the Belkin is 192.168.2.254, which leads to your next problem - your PC probably can't connect to the Belkin device. Assuming your PC is configured for the Linksys subnet, the easiest way to communicate with the Belkin is to use a network cable directly linking your PC to the Belkin (may need to be a crossover cable) and manually set your PC's IP address to one in the same subnet as the Belkin, like for example 192.168.2.200 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Then you can open your web browser and point it to the Belkin default address, as outlined in the manual, and make whatever changes are required.

How I can resetore default values???

There should be a tiny reset button on the back of it that you can only push with a pen. You may have to hold it for a few seconds.

How do i reset the wpa key back to default

You can reset the Belkin back to the default settings by powering up the router and press and hold the RESET button on the back of the router for 7 secs.
The router's configuration URL is http://193.168.2.1
and the default password is blank (just press Enter)

Does anyone know where i can get the setup software for my belkin f5d7130 access point?

You can download the manual and quick instalation guide for the F5D7130 Wireless Network Access Point
from Belkin. No software is needed nor is supplied with the access point.

If you bought the access point bundled with the network card F5D7010, then the disk that came with it would have the drivers for the card. You can get them from Belkin also. Click here

Connect belkin f5d7130 to homehub 1.5

You need to connect all pc's and homehub to a switch so they can talk to one another. Then use the AP as a wireless access point to connect all wireless laptops, and connect the AP to the switch with ethernet cable, and you have a network. Just make sure that only your HH or AP supplies IP addresses or they will clash.

I use sonic wall VPN to work form home. I use a lan BUT I also have a Belkin Wirelss N. When I plug into the wireless I cannot log into the VPN BUT everyone can use their laptops. Is there a way to work...

Is this Belkin Wireless N a Gateway / Router or is it a Wireless Access Point WAP¿ If it is a Gateway it is most likely not getting the inbound packets from the VPN since you are most likely using the same octets in the Sonic Wall VPN as well in the Gateway. I would recommend finding a WAP to link the wired world (the LAN and your VPN) and the wireless world everyone else you want to have access to your wireless signal. At this point I would recommend that you ensure your security is adequate since at this time the Wireless world has access to your VPN.

Connection

The setup page to configure Belkin routers is at http://192.168.2.1

If you have changed it, reset the modem to factory defaults by using a paper clip in the small reset hole.

Xbox 360 help

All devices on your network should be assigned an IP address. They need it to be identified on the network. You can try rebooting your router. The wireless on belkin routers can be a bit temperamental. Then try the 360 setup. If you are still coming up blanks, then check your router's DHCP server setting. Make sure that it is turned on. (It is the function that assigns the IP address.) My lat suggestion is to manually assign an address to the 360. Try this only if you are familiar with how IP addresses work. Hope this helps....
