Syncronizing the data from a Sharp OZ-650 to a new computer

I have been using a Sharp OZ-650 personal organizer for ten years and the tray and cord used to sync with a computer no longer works on the new usb computers. Is there a way to download the data from the organizer to Outlook contacts?

I have a similar problem. I would like to get the data off the wizard into a Balckberry or any flat file.

Just get a USB-to-Serial adapter and use the same method you used to use. Here's the one I ordered and it works fine. It includes a CD for loading a driver which I loaded before plugging anything in.

A quick and dirty method of getting your data to near flat file format is to find a computer with the old RS-232 serial port and use a third party software called "Rupplynx" v 6.0 or 6.1 to download the data from the Wizard to the Rupplynx software on the PC. The backup/extracted files that you create with this software will be binary but the address book, memo etc data portion of the file will be ASCII text that is readable (beware, even the secret entries are readable so you will have to guard the computer that the files are on). A better but slower way is to copy and paste the uploaded and displayed data text in the Rupplynx 3rd party software to a Word document or plain *.txt file. I did this for the most important data since I also had about 10 years worth of memos and contacts.

I copied the whole subdirectory with the binary files from a windows XP computer that had an RS-232 port to a Windows vista computer and the program ran fine so that I could get the data into a compatible format such as Word or plain text file format. (via copy and paste) Rupplynx also has an export option to export to different file formats...

Screen went black on my OZ-630 how to fix ?

This personal organizer model by Sharp has been discontinued. The model has been around for at least 8 years. Most of the DIY repair tips for it constitute taking an alcohol swab to the battery contacts to clean them. I doubt you are going to find schematics to use in conjunction with a multimeter with it. The black screen likely is indicative of a hardware failure. There is a low probablity you could get data from it transferred to a PC. But rather than distract you with what is likely to be a deadend activity, you might contact Sharp.

Still, here is data transfer info: https://manualsdump.com/en/manuals/sharp-oz-640-oz-630-oz-650/256401/79. Possibly the data may be held in a flash component regardless of the battery state. And although the device may be available on Ebay for between $14 and $23, I find no schematics that might enable one to swap out parts to retrieve flash data, a somewhat imaginative solution probably requiring using of a soldering iron at least. Somewhere, a SHARP technician is rolling over in his grave at the plausibility of the idea. But I'm not the first to think of that: https://www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12553&start=0

From page 99 of the manual for the device, the following support contact information is provided. For a SHARP representative: 1 800 BE SHARP. For the SHARP website: www.sharp-usa.com. For the a fax: 630 3789987. For writing to Customer Assistance: 1300 Naperville Drive, Romeoville, Illinois 60446 , To Wizard Help. Given the age of the device and the likely age of the manual, I'd try the website's customer assistance contact information. It is possible a Sharp repair center might be of assistance although the item is discontinued. The good news is that newer models of the device are supported yet so some technician there may be helpful. https://www.sharpusa.com/

You should be able to transfer files using the Data Loader or the Downloader (the new software) via a dubbing cable. If this is not possible you have to go via PC using the Wizard Organizer.

According to the YO-370 Operation Manual:

What To Do If You Forgot The Password -
When you have forgotten the passord for the SECRET function, you have to delete the password along with all secret data by selecting "DATA DELETION" from the Function menu. Once the password is deleted, a new password can be entered. Follow the procedure below to delete the password (and the secret data along with it).

1. Recall the Function menu (2nd, FUNCTION)
2. Select "3 DATA DELETION", and press v (3, v)
3. Select "3 SECRET DATA". (3)
The delete prompt "DELETE ? Y/N" appears
4. Press Y (To retain the data, press N)
