Black screen with audio available

14 year old visits, doesn't comprehend tv/av button and does something beyond my abilities to correct. Screen is black, but audio is available through all inputs. 'BLOCK' is ON under TV menu, but will not allow to turn OFF. Oh yeah, of course I no longer possess the manual or the remote. Slick. Please advise. Over.

How to connect to tv to tv with component cables

In order to connect an AV receiver to a TV using component cables (Red & White) you will need to connect the component cables to an available AUDIO "OUTPUT" on the TV (red to red and white to white). Then the other end of this same cable will be connected to an available AUDIO "INPUT" on the AV receiver. The TV (via the menu or setup button) may have to be set to where the audio signal is output to a home theater and not to the TV speakers. Once connected, the AV receiver should then be set to the Audio input used in order to listen to what the TV is showing on screen.

Sony bravia picture to large for screen

Sir press the screen mode button in your remote below input select button, press the screen mode button repeatedly to select smart, 4:3, wide, zoom, or 14:9.
  • Smart- Display conventional 4:3 broadcast with an imitation wide screen effect. The 4:3 picture is stretched to fill the screen.
  • 4:3- Display conventional 4:3 broadcast non-wide screen TV in the correct proportions.
  • Wide- Display wide screen 16:9 broadcast in the correct proportions.
  • Zoom- Display cinemascopic letter box format broadcasts in the correct proportions.
  • 14:9- Display 14:9 broadcasts in the correct proportions. As a result, black border areas are visible on the screen.

I have a Gold Star TV, several years old, that is stuck on a black screen with AV on it. I pushed the wrong numbers to change the channel and cannot get it to f\go back to tv mode. Can you help me?

If you have the remote, press the AV/TV button. If you have no button with AV/TV written next to it, look for a symbol that is the outline of a TV with a small + sign in the corner. Or, worse case simply press each button one by one, until you find the one that switches the channel. If you bring up something on screen you're not sure about, turn the TV off and back on again.

Tv turns on but there is just a black screen and no audio. It is not even 2 years old. Please help.

Most likely you are on the wrong source chanell. look for an AV/TV button. keep changing that untill you get to the TV stations. If you have a set top box make sure it is turned on. Also the appropriate AV channel will be the one that the set top box is plugged into.

I have a 5 year old KLH DVD player. I had it hooked up through AV cable to a 6 year old SONY Trinitron 37" TV & it worked fine. I am now trying to hook it up to a new Westinghouse flat screen TV...

double check the wires are in the correct connections on both the tv and dvd player also the KHL dvd player may need to be put in progressive scan. Usually the red wire for video and the one for audio get plugged into the wrong input and causes this issue

My 3 year old daughter was wiping our 50" Sony SXRD LCDTV with Lysol wipes. I didn't see where on the tv she was wiping, but know the bottom corners of the tv are totally blacked out and a black...

It sounds like she may have cracked the LCD display.
LCD (liquid crystal display) are very delicate nad any impact, even by a three year old could damage the screen beyond repair. Could you please submit a photo of the screen when on?

Hi, the av lead with the three connectors at the end make sure you have them connected correctly -
Yellow - Video
White - Left Audio
Red - Right Audio

It's a simple mistake to make , but check it.
