I dropped my camera and afterwards it worked fine. A week later, I found a black spot on the images. The spot comes into focus when I zoom in and becomes a blurred spot when I zoom out. The surface of the lens is clean. The spot is stationary and shows up on the camera screen as well as on an uploaded image. The camera is 3 months old but will likely not be fixed by Casio due to the small dent that shows it was dropped. I am willing to open the camera and look for the culprit and i am looking for suggestions on where to look for it and/or warnings.
My Nikon was having the same problem with the stationary black spot. I used a can of Dust Off ( the original compressed gas duster). I just removed the lens and held the camera upside down (lens facing the floor) and blew my compressed air inside and my black spot disappeared. Just a thought you might like to know !! Good luck.
Use the dust off.. it works. i just did it and it took the black spot right off my cameras lens. :)
Thanks Mr. Guest of April 10, 2007. I had the same problem and my camera is fixed now. I had no idea what was going on. Thank you once again you were very helpful.
THe problem is a speck of dust or moisture that is on the digital screen. I opened up the camera and looked inside and the screen is sealed up pretty tight. I was able to get the spot to go away by lightly tapping the camera on its side, against my hand. It took some time but the spot slowly moved on the screen and eventualy disappeared. Its worth a try on yours I guess.
