Black spot on picture

Could be on the CMOS sensor, take it to be repaired. If u still want to go ahead and open it, avoid using your hands inside, use vacuum hand pumps and brushes.

Outside of trying different lenses and memory cards, there\'s probably little anyone can tell you that you\'re going to like to hear. If it\'s a problem inside the camera, it should go back to Nikon for repairs. If you obtain an RMA from Nikon and send it in, they will evaluate it and give you a repair price. At that point you can decide whether or not to go through with repairs or cut your losses and buy a replacement.

The black spot can be from one or two sources. The first, is a called a stuck or hot pixel. Your camera's sensor has 12.9 million pixels (12.3 million are used for the image). Many times, a hot or stuck pixel is a bright color - red, yellow, green, etc. It can be any color however. Dark or black pixels can also be called dead pixels as they look like they're "off." Regardless of which your camera suffers, it will not respond to light projected on the sensor by the lens. You'll have to have manually edit the pixel in each image, or return to Nikon for sensor replacement. Nikon used to perform a mapping out of the pixel, but it seems that they don't do this any longer. A sensor replacement can cost in the hundreds of dollars.

The second source, is dust on the sensor. A pixel(s) blocked by dust will show up in each picture, but will appear to be more in focus in some images than others - depending on the aperture value of the camera when the exposure was made. A stuck pixel usually has a very definite edge on all images regardless of aperture setting. A simple, careful wet cleaning of the sensor with a product designed specifically for the job can solve this problem pretty quickly.

Sounds like the spots are on your sensor. If on the lens, it would be too out of focus to matter.

thats called "vigneting" and is caused by misalignment of the lens.... has it been dropped or mishandled? if so, it needs re calibrating and setting up by a pro camera technician.

My viewing screen is black. I had successfully taken a picture, viewed it, and turned the camera off. When I turned it back on about 30 seconds later, the viewing sceen was black. I can 'take' a picure, but it comes out black. Help!

You checked the obvious, lens cover? (sorry had to ask) any grinding noises when you take a picture or focus\zoom?

I recently had trouble with the LCD Display coming up with a black screen. So I mailed it to Fuji with a letter explaining the problem. About 3 weeks later I got it back in the mail and it seem to be working fine until a month later. I turned it on and the LCD display show a black screen only now it has white lines. I'm so incredible mad and extremely dissapointed in Fuji. Reading online I have notice many people having trouble with Fuji Products. I WILL NEVER BUY a Fuji again!!!
