I don't know how to install new programs on that Linux version. But, on mine (Ubuntu 8.04) I can download a .deb file and Ubuntu can intall it by itself. I guess you will find a version of Open Office in the next link http://download.openoffice.org/index.html
...and click on Get more platforms and languages.
There are other ways to get the program and install it, by command line. Check in your version doc if you can use apt-get. The line would look like
apt-get install openoffice.org
with a previous su or sudo : sudo apt-get install openoffice.org
Have you tried the link of open office?
Okay, I have downloaded the Linux version you have (Linpus 4.8). If you click on Settings - Pck-Manager, you obtain a Quick Introduction to the package manager. Read and then close that window.
Click on Search and type openoffice or only office, it will find the open-office package. Click on openoffice.org-core and than select package from the top menu (File Edit Package Settings Help). Select Mark for upgrade. Click on Apply.
I guess that will do the job. If not, let me know where you are stopped.
Thanks!
