I am looking to piggy back my extension to a second phone because I'm not always at my desk. I did piggy back the line and can make calls from it but it does not ring, and yes, the ringer is on and works on that phone

Did it EVER ring on outside calls? It may NOT be programmed to ring

Is there an 'M' on the display? If so, that means it is in 'meeting mode.' All you have to do is press and hold the star key (*) and that will take care of it.
SOURCE: ringer off displayed on base
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help with your problem.
The "ringer off' message on the base display is referring to the ringer on the "base" unit not the phone ringers. Your phone handset(s) will still ring even when the base ringer turned off.
To turn the ringer on the base back on press and hold push the ^ symbol on the base until it beeps two times, To turn the base ringer off, press and hold the v symbol until the unit beeps.
If my information has proven to be of help, please give me good rating. Thanks for using FixYa!
