Is there a way to change IP address of the Polycom 501 from a computer or web browser instead of having to do it with the phone menus? I have some phones at a customer site and I am going to change them to static instead of DHCP. I would like to do it on a sunday when the phones are not in use, that way I won't have to go to the trouble of getting a key to their building and doing it at night after they close. I have connected to the phones by typing the IP address in a web browser but I can't find where you would change IP addresses

Ohh this mean, you did not register this extension on your phone system. Create this extension on your phone system. Be sure that password given on Phonesystem is also configured on phone too.

You didn't provide any information about your network which is ALWAYS required to provide any type of help, not to mention a solution.
"Failed to get boot parameters via DHCP, xxx seconds until reboot" simply means that the computer isn't getting an IP address from your router. Setting up your router is another entirely separate topic.
This is pretty simple though, one of three things is happening:
1. Your router is not properly configured to provide DHCP to the phone.
2. Your network cable is bad.
3. Your phone is bad (most likely the RJ45 port since the phone seems to work otherwise).
You can check for bad ports or cables by checking the port status within the router. If the port is lit up, most likely the cable and phone port are fine. This is not 100% though, replacing the cable should always be a consideration even with a lit port.

Check on the router if you are distributing enough IP addresses.

As you have probably found, SIP phones are not supported until R5, which just came out.
