Javascript is enabled but it keeps telling me I need to enable it

Hi.

I've been trying to view videos or click on things that require javacript in both IE and Firefox and it keeps saying the same thing in both: I need to enable Javascript and download the latest flash player. I've checked on both of my browsers and javascript is enabled on both, and have downloaded the newest form of Flash player and it still keeps saying this. I've cleared my internet files and I'm out of ideas.

What's up?

It is installed and enabled but it is not flash10a. it is flash6.ocx.

  • slhitz Oct 23, 2008

Fixed it and still the same problem. If I were to say go to youtube.com and watch a video it still tells me that I need the newest flash player or Javascript enabled. All things are done. Internet files have been cleared AGAIN.

  • slhitz Oct 24, 2008

Checked for all that, and still not letting me view things that require javascript.

You need to install Flash Player 10. Looks like you have FP 6.

    Here's a link to download 10.

    Flash Player 10

Uncheck the Google toolbar block before downloading.

    Download the file.

Use Control Panel "Add and Remove Programs" to remove your current Adobe Flash Player.

Then run the new flash player download.

After it installs go back to IE "Manage Add Ons" and check the version.

If this is helpful, please rate this solution. Thanks.

    OK, open Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom Level

Scoll down and see if these are ENABLED:

Run Active X controls and plug-ins

Script Actixe X controls marked safe

    Active Scripting

    Scripting of Java applets

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can also open up Tools>Internet Options>Advanced

Scoll down to security and click the box next to "Empty Temporary Internet Files when Browser is closed. That won't help your problem, but saves messing with deleting them manually.

I'm running out of options, sorry to say.

Go to http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and download Java and reinstall it, then reboot.
