The laptop works with battery only and it drains the charge , however when I try to charge it, it won't charge. Works with AC Adapter only also. From Battery information I see that the current is zero and the wattage also. Let me know if you need more info. Please help! Thank you in advance!
Sounds like you need a new battery.
It's not just a battery in a case, it also has a small circuit board inside to control the charging etc, if that's faulty it won't charge, or if it has dead cells in it won't charge.
Stuart,
Thanks for your response! I tried three different batteries and they all work on another laptop, which is T42. I think T41 and T42 use the same battery, correct?
Any other ideas, please?
Looks like it. Just had a look on Ebay

SOURCE: ibm thinkpad no power with ac power adapter but works with battery
If prior to this it works intermittently with the AC adapter, it means the connection from the adapter power unit to the motherboard was lost and this is a typical problem with the Thinkpad. It needs a re-soldering job and not something that one can do without a proper repair manual on how to open the laptop. Try googling your problem and find out if someone has the same experience and managed to resolder by him/herself.

Hi there.
Unfortunately you cannot download the recovery CD for free, you can download them but it is going to cost you.
Take a look at this site for all IBM Thinkpad recovery CD's >>>>
