Have you tried resetting the stereo?
Disconnect the negative of your battery, wait at least 30 seconds then re-connect it.

That will reset your radio back to factory settings.

Does using an ipod/AUX adapter through the CD changer input stop a real CD from working?

you have to change it from the Aux setting to CD when you want to play cd, some cd players switch to aux. automatically when you plug inthe aux. cable. and may have to be unplugged when playing cd.

There is a auxiliary button on the sony cdx-m8800. Is there a way to hook up an IPOD? The stereo also has MP3 written on the inside face. Thanks

Contrary to the below Expert's testimony, the UK CDX-M880 has a REAR AUX connector that will enable you to play your iPod through your car's stereo.

You will not be able to control the ipod's interface through the radio. You will have to use the control on the iPod .

You require a Male 3.5mm extension cable like the following...

a5e60c6.jpg A 4-6 foot length is recommended, as the cable will need to be routed from behind the radio to a place your iPod can be easily manipulated.

I cant figure out how to get an MP3 player to play through my CD player....it has 3 different audio rca jacks in the back...i try all three none worked....is there an AUX setting that need to put my cd...

what kind of cd player do you have? you must make sure that your unit has auxillary inputs. some decks dont have them. if it is set up with aux input rca's, then you just connect those to the mp3 player, then you should be able to play it in the aux mode on the deck. if you cant find it by hitting the source button, then you may not have it. I know on my sony stereo, I actually had to turn the deck off with the ignition switch on. then I press the menu button, and there I can toggle the aux mode on or off. if that doesnt work either, then you either dont have aux inputs, or the inputs are bad on the stereo, meaning its not gonna work at all.

Got an aux cord to plug my ipod in, doesnt switch to "aux in" mode

According to the manual, you need to "enable" the AUX 1 or 2 thru the initial settings menu.

Press and hold the SRC until the unit turns off. Then press and hold the MULTI CONTROL (knob) until the Language appears. Turn the knob to cycle thru the options, select AUX 1 or 2 and press the knob again to select ON.

After selecting them to on, power the unit on and press the SRC to cycle thru the sources to find AUX 1 or 2.

The owners manual is here if you need it;

Auxillary option not available in menu

Try putting the unit in standby via the "SRC" button FIRST..., then press the menu button and cycle through to the "AUX 1" option and activate this....then press menu button again. When the unit is next switched on, you should have an "AUX" option accessible via the "SRC" button which will cycle through all of the availale modes ....standby-tuner-cd-aux etc etc.

MD/CD Changer Control Options

press source button repeatedly to select "CD" or "MD" be aware that in order to connecting Ipod to a car stereo you will need to use an extension cable with 3.5 mm stereo connectors on each end to connect iPod to your car stereo system's aux input, or use a cassette adapter if your car stereo doesn't have a sound input jack. Either of these items can be purchased at stores that sell car stereo accessories. good luck!
