Re: Kenmore 110.86870100 Has power to the power block but...
Get the schematic and look at the timer. there are two wires that you can jump across and verify that the timer is bad by bypassing it all together. If all your checks tested good then the timer is bad. If you have any doubt order the part from repairclinic.com because you get a full refund even if you put it in and it does not work
If all of the components are reading ok then you need a timer. Touch your 2 leads together. 0 ohms rght. That means you have a complete circuit. If you get the 0 reading then the element must be otay. Bad timer. Take that fancy meater of yours and atttach one of them leads to the timer leg marked RH. Yank the wire off the terminal beore you test. Move the timer around. You should get the famous 0 reading along the way. If you don't then that means you have the bad timer.

If the start button blinks and the dryer does not start, it's possible that the pause button may be stuck. Here are some steps to try and resolve the issue:
Unplug the dryer: Safety first! Unplug the dryer from the power source before doing any troubleshooting.
Check the pause button: Make sure the pause button is not stuck or jammed in any way. Press and release the button several times to see if that helps.
Check the door switch: If the pause button is not the issue, check the door switch. Open and close the door several times to ensure that the switch is functioning properly.
Check the circuit breaker: Check your home's circuit breaker to ensure that the dryer is getting power. If the circuit breaker has tripped, reset it.
Call for service: If you have tried all of these steps and the dryer still will not start, it may be time to call for service. A technician will be able to diagnose the issue and provide a solution.
Remember to always put your safety first and unplug the dryer from the power source before performing any troubleshooting.
If you suspect that the start button on your Kenmore HE5T dryer is faulty, there are a few steps you can take to address the issue:
Confirm the problem: Before assuming the start button is the cause, check if there are any other factors contributing to the dryer not starting. Ensure that the dryer is properly plugged in, the door is securely closed, and the control settings are correctly selected.
Troubleshoot other components: If the dryer still doesn't start after checking the above factors, it's worth checking other components that could potentially affect the start function. This includes the thermal fuse, door switch, and the timer. A malfunctioning component other than the start button could be causing the problem.
Replace the start button: If you have determined that the start button is indeed the cause of the issue, the fix would involve replacing the faulty button. You can purchase a replacement start button from an authorized Kenmore parts distributor or directly from the manufacturer. Refer to the user manual or online resources for instructions specific to your model on how to replace the start button.
Seek professional assistance: If you are not comfortable or experienced in appliance repair, it's advisable to consult a professional technician or contact the manufacturer's customer support for further guidance. They can provide expert advice and ensure that the start button replacement is done correctly.
Remember, proper diagnosis of the issue is essential to determine if the start button is the actual problem. If you're unsure about performing any repairs yourself, it's always recommended to seek professional assistance to avoid further damage or injury.
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.
If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.
Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
check the door switch and door latch. Open door, set the dryer to air fluff cycle, and manually depress the door switch. Press start button. If it started - door needs alignment to fix it. If it did not start: If your dryer has light inside - check if light turns off when you press the switch. If not - switch needs replacement. If all that checks out ok - the problem is more serious, and you might need a tech to come out and diagnose it.
Verify dryer door switch is not defective...Button/pin depresses and is not loose. Verify that door switch has continuity when pushed in. Verify start button is working. Verify that rotary timer has poower going to it and timer is working properly. Check for any blown fuses inside dryer...might be located on a control board. Thermal protection sensor may have tripped and did not self-reset so check that.
1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a
tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for
power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in. Sometimes
the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the
case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or
replaced.
2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the
door switch if found defective.
Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a
dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door
switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and
the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.
Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch
assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there
is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and
just the lever.
hi, i recommend inspecting the terminal block that the power cord is connect to on the back side of the dryer. this terminal block may be faulty or, the cord could be lose and not connected properly.kindly, inspect this device that is located on the back side of the dryer for lose connections. if the termainakl block is in good conditon and, the power cord is screwed on tight, thsi iwll confirm timer fialuer.
Hello dram65,
Check the door interlock switch, if that's malfunctioning or not sensing the door is closed.. it will disable the drying function,
Regards,
Rick

3. Thermal fuse Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.
4. Timer Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
If you get a series of four rapid beeps when you push START in an attempt to start your dryer, your door switch (interlock) is defective. I have experienced this problem before and it is a fairly simple problem to fix. The easiest way to tell is to open the dryer door and push the door interlock in by hand. Hold it in while pushing the START button. If the dryer starts, then all you have is a simple problem of the door not closing properly. If the dryer still does not start, however, replace the dryer door interlock. The interlock should also make a definite "click" while pushing it in. If it does not, the switch is worn out. Some dryers have an upper and lower door interlock. If yours is equipped with two interlocks, make sure they are both functioning and that the door is latched properly. I have experienced problems where dryers doors with two interlocks would close at the top, but not at the bottom. The dryer would not start as a result. If you can provide me with your model number I can get a part number and price for you. I can also tell you where you can get the part and provide instructions on how to replace it. Let me know. I hope this helps you.
