Just had to do this to mine, the ipod connector fell off ! What a pain this device is. It is now apart, and next job is to re solder the connector. To get apart I first removed the rubber pad on the base (peeled it off), then unscrewed the bottom plate, & wriggled it out from the side supports. Then used a hair drier to warm up the metal screens, then carefully prised them off with several small screwdrivers. The back came off more easily than the front, as it has a break along the bottom. Then I removed all the visible screws. The back could then be separated from the front, again using small screwdrivers to prise them apart. This revealed the horse shoe shaped circuit board, & some more screws. all screws were removed, but the circuit board is covering two at the top, so, I unplugged the connectors from the circuit board (after prising the glue away) then swung the board to one side, & unscrewed the remaining screws. This allowed the centre tunnel to be moved enough to reach the screws holding the "bridge" to it. Removed the bridge screws, & prised the bridge from the centre tunnel. The final stage was to prise the plastic cover (on the bridge underside) away from the bridge main (try not to strain the flat cables going to the + & - volume switches) the top PCB can then be removed after unplugging the two connectors, & removing 4 more small screws. Whew ! Lets hope I can remember how to put it back together.

This connector is available complete with pcb from jbl service center. But radial is very difficult to open. You need to open the mesh with a hair dryer, because it is heavely glued with hot glue on the borders.you will find screws inside. And also from the bottom & sides you have to remove this decorative strip.
it is very time consuming & headache.
i have myself replaced five of this docking sockets,it will take minimum of two to three hours to do this

I had the same problem. You can access the top of the circuit board by very carefully peeling off the saddle-like part that has "JBL" printed on it and contains the volume control. It is glued on by two adhesive strips under the top. The adhesive strips start just behind each volume control button and run toward the rear. Good luck repairing the connector - metal pins guide it into place on the board, but the connections are very fine and hard to reconnect - I'm not sure if they just rely on pressure contact or if they have very fine solder or some kind of conductive adhesive. I could not make the dock work consistently, but the audio input still functions.

To further disassemble the unit, you have to remove the mesh screen on the back side of the unit, then you can access the screws that hold the two halves of the donut together. I was able to do that by prying on the bottom edge with a knife. The screen is glued in place and has some little tabs as well.

Can i get replacement ipod adapter for JBL radial micro?

I have the same problem, my dock was broken, but I got round it instantly by plugging my ipod into the speaker via the headphone port on the ipod and into the audio in port on the speaker. When new, the speaker actually came with a spare lead as you can plug any mp3 player into it this way. The sound quality seems exactly the same and I dont have to throw away the speakers. If you have lost the lead you need a 3.5 mm male to male headphone lead, just pence in any electrical shop or amazon.

No picture on television when connecting s-video outlet from JBL radial and showing a film or pictures on a docked i-pod touch.

Hi, I have this problem and when I spoke to JBL techical support they told me that Apple have changed their software on the New Nano and the ipod touch and of course the iphone and regrettably the radial does not support S video for these products. I'm told it will work with first generation ipod classics. PS: i had to carefully cut off some of the plastic plug to make sure the connection goes all the way into the back of the radial

My jbl radial, when using a 120 gig ipod, will skip songs.

Not a solution but mine sometimes causes my ipod to skip mid-song to the next song or podcast as well. JBL customer service is usually good and I've been meaning to check with them since I finally figured out it's the radial and not my ipod.

Ipod adapter clear

Sorry, it 'WILL NOT' charge a 4G Nano on this Dock no matter which adapter you use!!

Clear Adapters have small numbers on them which relate to different iPods - A reference sheet relating to these numbers is enclosed with the Adapter Pack!

How to open the jbl radial micro speaker set?

Bit late! Just remove the four rubber feet underneath (self adhesive). Take out the four philips screws. It's a bit of a mess inside - you'll have to remove the connectors and some screws to get to the i-pod connector. You dont need to remove the button pcbs just the main board. The i-pod connector pcb is on the end of the grey ribbon cable connected to the main board (the button end of the unit).

Compatability with 4th gen nano

I have had exactly the same problem having bought a JBL Radial Micro for my partner for Xmas for use with the Ipod Nano, i contacted JBL via their website and was advised to contact Harmen on 01707278100. I was advised that the new ipod nano (chromatic) would not charge on the JBL radial micro. They stated that this was due to Apple changing the charging pin in the new nano. I have since bought a JBL Stage III. I contacted Harmen before buying this and was advised that the Stage II would not work. Hope that this is of use.
