Hellocmmirabile,
Welcome to Fixya,

You asked, What do you use to clean stainless appliances so they won't streak?

At this site of our sponsor, they have a good stainless steel cleaner.

http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/cleaners.shtml#cleaners
Stainless Steel Cleaner - 10 oz
P/N: 31462 Stainless Steel cleaner made by Whirlpool. Cleans and polishes stainless steel. Non abrasive and residue free. 10 oz bottle

Availability:
In-Stock $ 6.99

I use a $1.00 bottle of alcohol from the dollar store,
which is already mixed with water 80-20% OR or 50-50 %.
What ever they have available and I do it twice.
Let me know how you do.
Thank You for using our site.
Huuum,

How To Clean Stainless Steel Appliances

First do a quick wipe of the appliance with a gentle liquid dish detergent & water mix, dry with a clean towel. After washing you’ll likely see the smudges and marks still hanging in there. You can buff out each smudge with a lint-free towel and some pressure, but try one of these items instead to bring back the shine and quickly remove those pesky fingerprints and smudges:
  • Olive Oil (just a dab will do)
  • Mineral Oil (Baby Oil)–Just a dab will do
  • Club Soda (especially good for removing streaks and heat stains)
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Vinegar (great for polishing too)
Apply directly to a lint-free cloth and wipe down surface, follow up with a clean dry cloth to bring appliance to a mark-free shine.
  • Avoid using cleaners or cleaning tools that are abrasive since they can mar the surface (even some soft-scrubbing creams can cause damage).
  • When cleaning the surface, wipe down the appliances along the grain of the stainless steel for best results.
  • Don’t clean stainless steel with bleach (diluted or otherwise), this can damage the finish.
  • Don’t forget to open the refrigerator or oven door, you’ll likely see a mess of smudges along the edge of the door.

Fax copy is streaky, almost banded looking. Copies the same too, streaky looking. Toner seems to be full, drum was replaced about 10 months ago with an after market one.

If they are black streaks and they are always in the exact same place, open the cover and clean the skinny little scanning glass. It might be ink or lint. If it's white streaks then it's in the same place but it's dried correction tape or fluid, etc.

Streaky, filmy black stove top

Re: Streaks

After a final clean up with a a wet & well rinsed cloth buff the surface with a microfibre cloth & it will look like new.

If there re any difficult ares to remove use a glass cooktop
paste cleaner (from Sears, etc)then and finish off with the microfibre cloth.

try making a copy on the glass, does it come out with the streaks or clean?
If clean then look at the strip glass on the copier there is a pen dot or white out that 's giving you the streak. clean.
