I can definitely look this over with you. This sounds like it is on one receiver. It is possible it could be the equipment, but first I would like you to check something for me.
Go to Menu -> Preferences (8) -> Closed Captioning (6) -> Caption On/Off (1). Make sure it is selected for "CC is on." Once that's enabled, try it again. If CC's are still not showing, press 'Info' on the remote and see if CC is listed on the program. Let me know if you have any questions.
U can't changes the languages of the tv Closed Captioning funsctions,u only can get what the tv productions stantions send out to the air broadcasting signal to ur tv only.
I do not know this dvd player, but on most anything with closed caption, you hit the cc button on the remote until you come to '0' or 'off'. As CC has about 6 channels it can use, but really only channel '1' is used. So you might have to cycle through the CC channels until closed caption disappears. Hope this helps. You might also have a setup menu on this DVD where you can control the CC. Just cycle though it till you get to '0' or off, exit the setup menu.

Ok.
1. Press CC.
This will present the Closed Caption information display.
2. Press CC while the Closed Caption information is
still on the screen.
Press repeatedly until you select the desired closed
caption service.
INFO BOX ON THE SCREEN,
Air ANALOG
Audio : MONO
CC : 1/2 CC1 ------ Closed Caption information
Ratings : NONE
Example:
If a program has three services (Digital CC(ENG), CC1
and Text1), the closed caption display will toggle in this
sequence:
1/3 ENG -- 2/3 CC1 --- 3/3 Text1 -- Off
The CC button keeps a record of the last service
selected in its memory.
If the last closed caption mode (e.g. 1/3ENG) you
selected is not available for the next program, or on
another channel, the closed caption service that is
available is automatically selected, and this service
appears in parentheses, e.g. “1/3(CC1)”.
Closed Caption services that appear in parentheses will
not be stored in the CC button's memory as your last
selected service. Only services that you have selected
with the CC button are stored.
If this doesn't work, the TV may need a software upgrade.
I can get you a copy of my manual LC-32SB23U for you. But, are you sure there is and "A" in the middle of your model number?
I cannot find a permanent solution for this problem. All I can find is to press the cc repeatedly until it says off or mute. I looked in the book. Sometimes cc will come on during a show. I think it is certain channels (abc) makes it come on certain shows and you will have to cycle the cc button again to make it go off. The Mute setting will make the chosen language come on when you press MUTE. Spanish comes on mine unless I change to cc1 for English if I want the cc working.
the close caption feature is different than the language in the menu.
Try to find the close caption feature in the menu and get it off. Now if she hit a button then chances are you find some button with that description in the remote control (close caption or text) make sure is off.
