Gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor - Powers up, backlight remains on, no Gateway logo on power-up, no osd menus appear and it picks up no input signals. Power button acts normal (orange/purple/blue) as if it senses an input of some kind ... tried almost all inputs except rgb. Menu buttons will light but produces no osd. Any ideas?

Could it be the little ribbon cable that connects to the menu buttons board [mounted on the back side of the front bezel?

I've had the monitor opened up and the connector that the ribbon plugs into and is latched down with looks 'worn.' The monitor was recently recapped with a kit from lcdalterntives. that ribbon looks problematic.... Can a new ribbon be purchased anywhere? I can't find one yet.

The cable leading from the source to the the monitor has given up this is usually the problem and is the most likely culprit. OR The Input setting has changed there is generally a button that changes the source near the power button or a menu button that allows you to change source.

SOURCE: Gateway FDP1975W Monitor Power Button Not Working

i would advice you to take your monitor to a technician, but if you are not ready, please leave the monitor on and make sure it is connected to ups u can now turn it on and off from the ups, if you continue the menu, Auto fit etc stuff, you might damage or disorganize the settings of your monitor which might cost you more. thanks

SOURCE: I have a gateway FDP2275W

This is a common problem with many LCD monitors. The
printed circuit board that provides a stable voltage for the monitor to operate
from starts to fail. The PCB can be replaced, when/if they are available, or repaired
in most cases at a much lower cost. for more information on this email me at

FPD2275w monitor monitor powers on but shuts off after 1 sec shows a picture perfect before it goes black all buttons light up and stay lit sounds like they r working

This model will likely have 2 or 3 bad capacitors in the power supply. You can see the tops bulging. They are 1000Uf @ 10 volts.

Bad caps, be REAL CAREFUL when take the bezel out, you can easily damage the small ribbon cable attached to the front bezel.

Have you unplugged the power cord for 2 min. Try that, there are problems with these "locking" and unplugging sort of "reboots" them.

BenQ LCD 17 inch Monitor

I wonder if this has a backlight in it. Most/or all LCD flatpanel displays use a backlight in them, namely a small florescent tube (a tiny version of the office florescent lights). If this is burn't out, or the little power supply which runs it dead, you will have a black display. The image is actually there, you just can't see it, except perhaps faintly when external light hits it just right. The display must be disassembled to check this light. If you have tech savvy, and some equipment, voltmeter, maybe an oscilloscope, you could check it out. Where to get a replacement lamp? Google it... perhaps the manufacturer.
