You can either put in the old hard drive into your computer and set it as a slave with the jumpers on the back.
Go to a specialists and they'll transfer it for you for a fee :(
Buy an external housing case for your old HD and then xfer it that way.

Upgraded from QuickBooks Basic 2002 to Quickbooks Pro 2006. Transferred data from one company successfully. Second company, get following message: "Problem: There wan an unexpected error reported...

If you reinstall QuickBooks, you shouldn't lose any data that you've already converted, however, it would be a good idea to backup any company data you have transferred. If sounds like there was a corruption in the data transfer process though in which case you need to restore the original data and then try it again. You might want to reinstall the original software, open the company file(s) you are having troubles with and verify the integrity of those files before going through the upgrade process.

Cannot restore backup Quickbooks onto new laptop

  1. If your backup file is not on your hard disk or in a network folder, insert the CD, USB flash drive, or other storage device in the appropriate drive.
  2. In QuickBooks, go to the File menu and click Open or Restore Company to open the restore wizard.
  3. Click Restore a backup copy (.qbb) and then click Next.
  4. Click Local backup and then click Next. The Open Backup Copy window opens.
  5. If needed, click the Look in drop-down arrow and navigate to the location where you saved the backup file, which has a .qbb file extension (for example, mycompanyname.qbb).
  6. Select the backup file and click Open.
  7. Click Next.
  8. If needed, click the Save in drop-down arrow and navigate to the location where you want to restore the backup file.

Unable to retrieve company file after closing it

You probably opened an old file. You will need to find the current file that you were using. Use the search and search for all files ending in .QBW
Check the dates they were last used (you don't want the one with the most current date since that was the old file that was opened.)

Error message when installing QuickBooks 2005 to new 64 bit compu

Hello, I found this on another web site intuit community. I tried this and it works. A couple of people said they had to run this each time they signed on but i have not had to.

Welcome to the community forums. One thing that I notice with your error log is that all the missing files are .dll files. I would suggest running Reboot.bat which re-registers the QuickBooks .dll files.
Do a search on your computer for reboot.bat (there is a seperate one for each version) and run the reboot.bat that corresponds to version of QuickBooks you are having a problem with.

It worked for me and I am so happy because as stated QB not longer supports 2005.

Quickbooks Pro-restoring a back up from a previous version 2005

If is any help - we have just had the same problem.......had version 5 (very old) of QB
changed computer to Vista and would not work so had to buy Pro 208 for Vista . We really had to get in touch with Quickbooks - they send you a free upgrade kit (disc which is Pro 2006 version (not a fuull version but enogh to get the data over) then you load that on your old machine transfer your data to that then copy that again - then load into Pro 2008 - worked fine for us - have come across a hiccup with VAT - but however I guess we are going to have to give in and phone them after the Bank holiday........apart from that everything was fine.

be brave and phone 'em - tech support was helpful.
