First off all check, printer printing properly?, if its printing only scan option not functioning then uninstall the drivers and re install once again. If printer is not at all printing, check system recognizing the printer or not.. if not recognizing, check with another USB cable,Replace formatter...

1.open the HP Director/Solution Center 2.click on scan menu and go to destination list tab 3. on the left side u will find a list of available destinations , move them all to the right side (front panel destination list) and save and then try to scan again , IT MAY WORK

First, since this has a built in network server, you should try to get it going. My reasoning is if you cant get the built -in server to work you will really have problems with a third party device.
So I would first visit www.hp.com go to drivers and downloads and get the applicable software and retry the installation.
Now if you are looking for a simpler route, connect the printer to a PC via USB. then right-click on the printer in "printers" in the control panel. you should see the Sharing option. do this, enable sharing and give it a name.
Now from the networked PC you wish to also use, go to add printer wizard in control panel. Choose the Networked option and let windows browse for the printer. If found select it and it should self install. Of course this method requires the Host computer to remain on for printing to occur.
And finally if all else fails you CAN get network print servers. They are a bit testy in some cases and should only be used when no other option is available.
