Hp 5550dn prints text fine but pictures are blurry?

Everytime I print a job, after about 20 prints all the images come out extremely unaligned. On some of the jobs the Text is fine, but images are blurry, and on others everything looks blurry. If i wait a while to print it will be fine again. Also when I print the Engine test page it comes out blurry also. We have changed the DC controller, and updated the firmware and drivers. What else could it be?

IT'S FIXED!! So after replacing the laser assembly, updating the firmware, and replacing a formatter, not to mention the transfer belt and fuser assembly, it still never worked. Finally on of our techs had an epiphany and decided to change a power voltage regulator, or power supply. Not too sure what it is really called, but apparently it was delivering to much voltage to the machine causing the formatter or image transfer to widen and contract causing the blurry affect. What ever he did worked!! I definately recommend if you are having this issue to have them look into the power supply. Thanks everyone for your help.

SOURCE: Jobs don't print, though printer is ready

This printer is notoriously problematic and you may be better off getting a new printer. We had one of these and it only lasted about 1 year before the same problems occurred. We trashed it after fighting for a while.

The problem is with the printers formatter. Unfortunately, if it is out of warranty, you are out of luck as a new printer is probably less expensive than the fix. Here is a forum regarding this issue on HP's website.

HP 3005 Issues

I would contact HP directly to see if this machine can be fixed. Sorry to break the bad news and I hope you find a solution soon.

I have a Canon printer. Whenever pictures or text gets a double or blurry image I open the printer solutions menu. It sounds as though there is a problem with inkjet alignment. By clicking the realignment button the printer will automatically realign the jets. I usually test the alignment by printing a page from that program. All the line segments should line up.

MY HP LaserJet 2840 has a brand new Toner cartridge. Now it won't print at all and we are getting a "OPC at end of life" prompt. What does this mean?

Imaging drum reach 20,000 (black only) or 5,000 (color), replace the image drum.

Supplies life
The life of the imaging drum depends on the number of black-only or color pages that print jobs
require. Imaging-drum life is also affected each time the device calibrates because calibrating causes the imaging drum to rotate. Imaging-drum life is measured in terms of number of rotations rather than number of pages printed.
The type and length of print jobs also affects drum life. A series of short print jobs uses more drum
life than an equivalent number of pages printed in a single large job. To extend drum life, print
multiple copies of a print job at one time rather than sending the same job to the device multiple times.
The life of a print cartridge depends on the amount of toner that print jobs require. When printing text at 5% coverage, black print cartridges last an average of 5,000 pages and cyan, magenta, and
yellow print cartridges last an average of 2,000 pages. High-capacity cyan, magenta, and yellow print cartridges last an average of 4,000 pages. (A typical business letter has 5% coverage.)

HP B8850 photo printer originally installed on an XP machine. Now running on a Win 7 unit (SP1) x64. Most printing done from Photoshop CS2. Up until a few months ago, everything ran fine on the x64 Win 7...

Try this.
Right click on the desktop and create a new Text Document, rename it spooler.bat
Be sure your computer is set to display file extensions otherwise you will end up with a file called spooler.bat.txt but the .txt will not be displayed. Right click on the file and select edit. type the following:
net stop spooler
net start spooler

Save the file.
Between print jobs, run this by right clicking on the file and Run as Administrator. Maybe restarting the spooler will work and you will not have to reboot.

Unable to print text documents

Some times image/picture files are very big files. That big size, in mega-bytes, some times conflicts with your amount of available memory. It could effect the print que or ram. Try running the file through a picture editing program edit the files then rename and save them. You can check the file size prior and then after you run the file through the program. If the file size is lowered it should print.
