Tv will not change channels

I tried using the remote and changing channels mannually, the numbers will change but not the channels. what could be the problem. someone please help. thanks

Menu on tv is locked. Cannot change channel number. BBC1 is 800 rather than 1 on the remote keypad.

Need to replace to tv tuner.its defective.or you buy some gudget like channel concoverter with remote..by using audio video rca jack.

A solution is to unplug the TV for 30 minutes and then plug it back in. I helped an elderly friend with her new TV purchase. Two days later the channels would not change manually or remotely. "Someone" she called explained "something" and the channels change with the simple 30 minute "reset"

Sounds like an eeprom problem or a microprocessor problem??? Also make sure the tv didnt lose its channel memory by reprogramming the channels feature in the menu. Good Luck

I can only change channels using the up & down keys on the remote button. But if i press the channel number, eg. Channel 17, if i press 1 and 7 on the remote button, it will not change channels. O

u have to press the enter button after entering the channel number

LCD 42 LG TV won't change channels with channel button only with numbers

First check with fresh batteries. that does not resolve it If a universal remote- try a different code. If original remote, press the "TV" button first to make sure it is using the right parameters. If still not resolved, the issue may reside in the IR circuit of the set.

Auto channel search is your friend. Once the tv has been through it and finds active channels, your channel button should work the way you envision.

you might try going to channel 00
If you cannot just dial the number 00, go to channel 2 and then channel down.
Does not always work, but without the model number of the TV it is hard to advise further
