Canon a70 Powershot

Several weeks ago the display screen has horizontal streaks and then the problem vanished. Now the camera does not take pictures. It will display pictures and it will flash but it will not record pictures. The program on the computer does not recognize and photos as being recorded for down load. A different memory card has no corrective effect. I need to repair this or take the camera in to a digital repair facility.I'm not interested in replacing the camera with a new one a purchase at this time.

There is a button on the back that can be pressed called Disp. (stands for Display). There are two or three settings it flips through each time you press the button. Press this button a few times to cycle through the choices in each of the playback and camera mode to see if this resolves your issue. Happy snapping...

Sounds like you're switching the same card between cameras. Rule #1...one card per camera. Format the card in the camera it is to be used in. There is no Rule #2.

In the camera menu, you will find an entry for "copy" which gives you the option to copy the internal memory to a memory card. Once that is done, remove your card, go back into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory and promise yourself to never use it again. After that, your memory card should work properly in the camera.
