So please give me a hint. I'm not a novis I'm an A/C contractor and I owned an Appliance repair shop in the 80's and 90's. thyis one's got me pulling my hair out. it's more than likely simple though.thanks.

Phil, on the new Kenmore the consol is held in with 2 snap springs on the left and right side. Take a putty knife and slide it in on each side while pushing up on the consol. When probing with the putty knife you will feel the snap spring. Don't be afraid to get a little physical these can be a pain sometimes. Most of the time when I open one of these consols the spring comes flying off. No big deal, just put it back in it's mount. Once the spring has been released the consol will flip up. To replace, insert the back pegs in first and snap the springs back in on the front. Catriver

How to take top off to reach lid switch on a Kenmore 110.15962401

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.15962401&pathTaken=partSearch

Next, see the following for how to release the console and remove the cabinet.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=131&osCsid=746900826707e36832e6985d3e3c376b

NOTE:

Some Sears washers do not have removable end caps (the screws to release the console are under the caps.)

If yours is this type slip a thin putty knife under the ends of the console and you should be able to release the spring clips holding the console on.

You should be able to determine which type of console you have by looking at the diagrams on the sears site.

I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO OPEN MY KENMORE 110 WASHER SO I CAN REPLACE THE LID SWITCH.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.########) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Also see the following illustrated description:

Some Kenmore washers do not use screws (i.e. do not have end caps on the console that pull off). Looking at the Sears diagram for the console you should be able to tell if it uses screws or spring clips.

If you un-plug the washer and slip a thin putty knife between the cabinet and control panel where the clip is, the clip should release allowing you to tilt the control panel back to gain access to the Lid Switch.

Most Kenmore Top Load washers have endcaps on each side that simply snap off allowing access to a phillips head screw. Remove the screws, pull the console slightly forward and then up.

On sone washers, there are no removable endcaps. These washers use a clip under the ends of the console.

If you un-plug the washer and slip a thin putty knife between the cabinet and control panel where the clip is, the clip should release allowing you to tilt the control panel back.

Most Kenmore washers use two endcaps on the front of the console that cover screws. Pull the endcaps off, remove the screws and pull the console up and forward to tilt it back.

Some models don't use endcaps.

They have two clips under the console holding it to the cabinet. If yours is one of these, slip a thin putty knife between the console and cabinet to release the clips.

See the Sears diagrams of the console and the following for a betteer diagram of the console and all internal parts.

Trying to remove the top of kenmore washer110.23832100

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.########) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Go to the section on the Sears site for the Top and Cabinet parts and you should see the Lid Switch.

Some models use End Caps on the console that pop off to gain access to screws. Remove the screws and pull forward and up on the console.

Other models use clips (no end caps) under the console.

See the section on the Control Panel and look at Item # 8. This is a clip that holds the control panel onto the cabinet.

If you un-plug the washer and slip a thin putty knife between the cabinet and control panel where the clip is, the clip should release allowing you to tilt the control panel back to gain access to the Lid Switch.

I am trying to remove the control panel, so I can remove the housing. I don't see the 2 screws on the front that all the sites are talking about? I have a Kenmore 110.26422502 Help! Washing machine

First, see the Sears Parts site for your washer.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.26422502+

It has diagrams of all the components of the washer.

Second, see the following illustrated description of how to release the console on most top load washers.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=131

The key is to remove the End Caps to gain access to the two screws.

NOTE:

Some Whirlpool / Kenmore washers don't have End Caps. Obviously a major problem.

However, on these washers, you can slip a thin putty knife under the console at the corners which will release a clip that holds the console on.

Need to disassemble a kenmore elite oasis dryer

#
1

Disconnect your Kenmore Oasis washing machine from its power source. Make sure that your washer is unplugged before beginning to disassemble it.
#
2

Remove the screws that hold the control console to the top of your Oasis washer. In some Kenmore Oasis models, the two screws may be covered by plastic end caps. After removing the screws, set them aside until you are ready to replace them.
#
3

Flip the console up, back and out of the way.
4

Locate the cabinet clips on the top of your Kenmore Oasis washer. These clips are located toward the back of the washer top and would be hidden by the console if it were not currently flipped up.
#
5

Slide your screwdriver underneath the metal cabinet clips. Wiggle the screwdriver back and forth to gently pry the cabinet clips free.
#
6

Disconnect the group of colored wires that plug into the top of the washer from the control console. These wires control the lid switch on your Kenmore washing machine. To disconnect, grasp the white plastic clip and pull gently.
#
7

Remove the washing machine cabinet. Tilt the cabinet towards you, and then lift the entire cabinet up and off of its platform.
