Flash I have tried all the flash setting, but when I take a pic in the dark the flash does not go off. On screen the AF Shows up and at the upper right corner of the camera the flash lamp indicates that a flash is about to be taken, but the flash does not go off. I have even tried to go throught the reset with no avail. Any suggs?

Flash tube is likely failed,
like a average light bulb is 1000 hours some fail immediately
most camera shops can do the repair, and its a common part
price depends on shop

Sharp LC37D44U Power LED was flashing green. TV would turn on, channel indicator shows in upper right corner, sound good, but screen would be black. Channel indicator disappears but screen is still...

I had the same problem. all the service reset would only make the display come on for a few second with no "k" on the screen - only the channel would show up. I purchased a complete set of board for the lcd on ebay, and started swapping them one by one. The inverter boards were the culpret. Tele working 100% since that board swap.

Manual setting is not working, all the pics are too dark?????

I think your camera is fine. The part where you said that the exposure rating was on -2 pretty much gives you the solution. In other words, these settings were somehow changed. The fix is simple. In M or manual mode, with your right thumb, press the tiny round AV button located just outside the upper right-hand corner of the LED screen. While keeping this button pressed, using your right index finger (second finger) adjust the little wheel (located just above and behind the shutter) to the right or left until the exposure is set to O. Now the M setting should be back to normal. Even if you switch to another shooting mode and revert back to M mode, the settings should be retained.

Good luck!

DARK SHADOW EFFECT UPPER CORNERS OF SCREEN

I would check for dust particles before I attempted any type of repair on the unit.

Dust particles will appear as dark spots that are larger than the size of an individual pixel. It must first be determined if the particle(s) are on the LCD panels or the screen.

My Nikon D40X won't take pictures, only makes squishy sound

take the batteries out of the camera and the memory card..verify that the memory cards are good by trying them in a printer or another cam..
other thing is you might not be in picture taking mode..you might be in the settings mode..check the user manual if you don't know if you are.

Pics too dark

look at the sensitivity settings (shutter speed), you may have set it too high (set it to auto). Try turning on intelligent exposure to auto/on. Turn intelligent/auto ISO on. Use iA setting for full automatic ono the dial when shooting. As for the message digital pic will go to memory, then that prob means you don't have a SD memory card installed, or it's not formatted, or set to locked.
give those a try.

Setting alarm

Alarm can only be set or disabled when the power in "Standby" mode. The manual refers to it as power "off" mode, but the LCD display will still be readable only darker. To set the alarm push the Standby button until the sound stops and the LCD is dark. Then push the AL SET button (which doubles as the volume down button when the power is "on"). The hour should start flashing. Adjust the hour by using the two buttons at the bottom on the right side just above the IR sensor. Once you've set the hour, push the AL SET button again and similarly adjust the minutes until you have the right time that you want the alarm to go off. Now push the AL SOURCE button (which also doubles as the function button when the power is "on") to toggle between Radio, CD, iPod or buzzer for your alarm. After you're satisfied that the time is right and the source is right push the AL SET button again. The LCD should still be dark, but should also show the word "ALARM" in the upper left hand corner.
To set the unit so the alarm doesn't go off push the "Standby" button until the sound stops and the LCD is dark. Push the AL SET button until the hour is flashing. Don't bother to adjust the time, just push the AL SOURCE button until none of the following appear: CD, iPod, Radio, Buzzer. As you push the AL SOURCE button it will toggle between these options. Once you're sure none of them appear on the left of the display, click the AL SET button again. The LCD should still be dark, and you should not see the word "ALARM" in the upper left hand corner.
