pilot won't light
Hello,
Ok, let's get the easy to check things out of the way first.
1) Is the tank empty? Take it out and weigh it on a bathroom scale. Most empty tanks weigh approx 18 lbs. The TW (tare weight) of your cylinder is stamped on the collar. If it weighs within a few lbs of your tare weight, then you simply need to refill it. Propane weighs 4.25 lbs/gal, so it would weigh approx 22 lbs with 1 gal of gas left.
2) Did you turn the tank valve on too fast? Close the tank valve, disconnect it and reconnect it. Then very slowly turn the tank valve back on. Try lighting the pilot and see if that helped. If not, try #3.
3) Your pilot orifice is dirty or has a spider web. Grab a can of compressed air (like you use to clean computer keyboards) and blow out the dust or web from the pilot assembly, which is where you light the pilot flame. Try lighting it and see if that solves it.
One of these 3 tricks should fix it. Douglas
I have a full tank but my pilot goes out. It may burn for a while but then it sounds like the after-burners kick on and it blows itself out. It is a Glo-warm unit and I don't see any type of pilot adjustment
I use a 100lb tank with a reg. Can I be hitting it with too much pressure?
