I can see the digital connector loose inside the camera. The connector looks like it has two tabs on the bottom that look like they should sit in two holes in what I think is a circuit board (green color). I can jiggle the connector around until it sits in those holes but connector won't stay in then as I try to connect the PC connector cable. Any help?
You have to go like a surgeon, get the loose part and resolder it back on the board. Sounds easy but it is not - working on those cameras is a bear because they are so small and have so many screws and ............G2 is a great camera - I have 2 of them / go for it. Good luck.

In the communications option of the camera Menu, there are two options to choose from. Try changing the options. one of them works with Canon software to download images.

The camera has to be taken apart. Your solution of shaking will always be a temporary repair and in the long run will most likely cause more damage.

The same thing happened to me this week. I called Canon Canada directly and asked to order the part (The battery compartment door). They gave me a phone number to call and I was able to order the replacement door for about $8.00 + $10-$12 shipping. Hope this helps!
