I have about 65 iPhones in my organization that I manage. I have had a few of them have this problem. It seems that the microphone at the bottom of the phone goes out/goes bad. Where did you purchase your phone? however, you first need to update itunes to 8.0.2, that might solve your problem. Unless you have an unlocked phone then restoring your phone is useless because when you restore an iphone with itunes in the US without an att sim card it will actually lock the phone, but I do not think that is your issue. the two things you are seeing the connect to itunes and the emergency call system means that your phone is not properly activated. which is done by connecting it to itunes.

I got he iphone two days before, and i press by mistake Setting, General & ''erase setting'' than after it said it will take 2hours for format and restore, After finishing it got stuck it's shows only Apple sign and I its not connecting with Computer Itune software the devise is complitely unknown?

Your iPhone will automatically switch to the WiFi setting if it is there! No need to turn off the 3g it will use your WiFi 1st, and 3g 2nd!

Had the same problemwith my iPhone 3G this is how I fixed it -

1) From the iPhone 3G, I called my own iPhone 3G number.
2) Went through the setup. After finishing the ssetup Hang off the iPhone 3G.
3) Then the voicemail button on the iPhone 3G worked - first time, there was a **** pause, it asked me to enter my voicemail password that I had set in step 2, and that's it.
