3 speed fan and oscillation are all that it does. Have pulled apart and made wiring diagram. Unit will beep at startup. Press ON/OFF momentary button will cause a pulse of fan rotation and 2 beeps. Continually holding the On/OFF button down will start fan and beep twice, pause and repeat. Motor OK. Controller board exposed, soldered fuse OK. All components floating at 230v a.d - danger to work on live. PCB labelled ND-668FND - D Would love a replacement. Suspect that the DC power to the chips fails under load as display drops off. May consider replacing electro caps. No thermal protection visible. What appears to be a hall effect detector has been deliberately wired away from the rotating squirrel fan so I believe this function is disabled. It's an OMega Altise tower fan worth about $ 90 AUS.

Hi,
From what you are saying the circuit board has gone bad... the relay that turns on the power to the inducer must have went bad. You will need to buy a new circuit board and replace the old one. Be sure to make all wires or change them over one by one so that you keep track of where they all go...
This is a very common problem and finding a new circuit board should not be hard.
Good luck!!

You should always try a new power supply if possible. After all, it is one of the most likely components to fail - it's got moving parts (one or more fans), just like your hard drive (spinning platters), one of the other most likely parts to die.
That said, in this instance it probably is the mobo. FIC made great motherboards, but they got out of the business so you won't find the same one anywhere. If you have to replace it, you may be able to get out of a Windows reinstall by getting a motherboard with the same chipset, which looks like a 915/G, though any 915 based board might do. You may still need to do a repair install, but in many cases the same chipset allows you to boot and then just load all the new different drivers for the new board.

Hey guys! Im glad you found my solution on my blog, and posted it here. I hope you ccan fix yours, or get it replaced on warranty. Im happy to help you with anything, the capacitors i think was 4,7 uF, 100volt, not sure.
Here is the link to my solution: http://lemurt.wordpress.com/2008/08/18/defenition-of-waranty-void/

SOURCE: Wiring the replacement 3 speed switch (fan motor)
I called King of Fans and the rep that I spoke with gave me the correct wiring for the 3 speed switch:
L White
1 Yellow
2 Blue
3 Black
The problem is that after I wired it this way I am getting the same result (off on 3 settings and a motor hum on 1 setting). So, either the Westinghouse switch that I bought at Home Depot is not compatible or it is the capacitor. The saga continues.

Sounds like your motor brake is out. Usually the discolor on the brake indicates it has overheated.
