Dishwasher was making whirliing noise during wash, now no wash, only fill and drain

Actual Unit 13783 Dishwasher was making a whirling noise during pump run at washing. Now fills and drains with no washing. Removed wash arm assy and mesh and found chopper assy, diagram shows screw but seems to be rivet, don't want to drill out without confirmation. Pump seem to turn, solinoid buzzes after water fill up, no pump noise. Help

Thanks in advance

Unit does pump out. Ran self test, no light at the end

  • AJWalkman Oct 18, 2008

Motor only buzzzes, got one side of chopper assy cover to open but the other side seems riveted down, do you have to drill out rivet?

After cover assy is off how do you remove the chopper assy so I can pull out motor, maybe it will be obvious after cover is off, can only see in from an angel with one side of cover open.

    Thanks

There is a #10 torx screw holding that cover down.do not drill it out. after you take it off you can tell if the chopper is broken.be careful for broken glass.

Drain Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain pump might be defective or might have some debris in it. This is a common problem.

Circulation Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Drain Impeller

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain impeller might be broken, or there might be debris in the pump. Generally, to gain access to the pump the top of the pump housing will have to be removed.

Pump and Motor Assembly

If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller

The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

Dishwasher water level low and making strange noise.

Hi, This d/w is designed to run with low water level. The noise you are hearing might be the wash motor. Do you know if this has the single or dual motor setup?
The dual motor style are not the greatest. The wash motor is known to go bad. You can remove the housing below the spray arm and see if anything has lodge in the in impeller. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Bosch dishwasher timer freezing

There is a recall on the control board of many of these models, butyour problem is likely not related. It sounds like a plugged drain system or a possible bad drain pump. That's why you are hearing the pump running constantly. I have written a guide to help. It is here. Thanks!

Whining noise with Kenmore 16032 dishwasher

I had a similar issue, I removed the lower spray arm (had to hold center plastic tab with pliers and then unscrewed and lifted up the arm). Then I removed the cover with the screen filter(4 screws) and then removed the top half of the stainless chopper housing (1 screw). Found that things like cherry pits, elastic bands, bread plastic ties had blocked the water inlet to the chopper and the area around the chopper blade. Cleaned it all up, reassembled and machine works great! Mine was so blocked that I was hardly getting any water pressure to the upper rack.

DISHWASHER

faults not related i would think is there a low humming noise when supposed to be wsahing? if so this is the motor capacitor faulty in all probability. this is a cheap part and easy to replace. otherwise, check if power to pump. if no power then points to a module fault. if there is power, points to a motor fault
