It might be cause by a corrupt firmware. You need to have a utility that restore the mp3 player to its original setting. i had exactly the same problem with my ipod shuffle 1st generation 2 years ago. Good thing Apple has that utility for me to download and until no it is still working. you need to contact sandisk to get a firmware upgrade done in your device..the firmware is damage..once you do that you should be able to boot your device...
